Has Payton a realized he had everything he wanted yet?

The grass is not always greener elsewhere. Sometimes even the brightest minds fall into these traps.

He’s probably starting to. But then again, he enjoys the attention so he’s probably ok.

Cap problems, aging roster, no QB, no 1st rd draft pick. Who could resist?

I get it, but he had control of everything he wanted. Those were his calls.

It’s always hard for control freaks who get their way all the time to let go. He’s going to realize that he has the perfect situation here that he won’t get anywhere else. See why Belichick hasn’t tried to avoid the Patriots rebuild. You can’t ask for more than full control. And owners and GMs have egos too. If you get in a situation where you’re top dog… Why leave.

He created most of those problems during his tenure

No shite. The point is he doesn't want to fix them so this job is no longer everything he wants, that's why he left.

Sean Payton does not possess the skills, knowledge and attributes necessary to build an NFL roster that is a consistent and sustained Superbowl contender. We know this to be a fact because SP's sample-size with the Saints was about 15 years.
Now, compare this with Bill Belichick's proven record on building that kind of NFL roster. There is no comparison.
Wherever CSP ends up, he will need help building the NFL roster and training his QB. His many years with the Saints proves that he alone cannot do those things.

Not everybody wants to stay in the same place and get comfortable. I do but many don't. I don't fault him for wanting to build something else up. If his motivation is at least partially tied to legacy it makes even more sense. His mentor/idol is Parcells and built multiple teams into winners. Not surprising Payton wants to do the same. I wish him luck and thank him for the wins here.

I think he left the Saints for many reason but mainly bc he wanted the 20 million plus per year that he knew he could command. I think he was too close to the Saints organization to hold them up for the value he could get elsewhere.

That's kinda of the thing though. We're the saints a pile of shite when he took the job? Yes, but he got a hall of fame quarterback because of a failed physical and drew had a chip on his shoulder because of that. Honestly for such a genius, who was his best draft pick that contributed to success? Colston
Once drew retired and he had to build a winner where he had laid the ground work for 15 years, what did he do? He quit
If he runs to the broncos or cardinals or some time like that and wins, he will always be mentioned along with gruden as he won with someone else's players. He quit the saints one year removed from Brees to prove he wasn't up to the challenge of building

Dude, sometimes people get burned out and want a change of scenery. Move on.

Let's see here
-Built Saints to what they are now
-Had full control
-Still wants to coach just not with the Saints.
-May not take a HC anywhere without the right situation in his favor
-Lobbying for teams to give him attention on national TV going around doing stupid shite like naming his potential DC
All this with the Saints in the shape they are in with him putting a big fat frick you to us and you want that piece of shite back?
