Because the greatest Saints game I saw overall was Saints/Pats primetime in 2009. We brought the whoop. That's when everyone said, "alright these guys can play."

I remember the whoop @ss they put on NY by halftime, and the Fox Commentators where speechless.

That may be the greatest game any NFL QB has ever had

The only reason we won was because of all the turnovers our defense created.

The Saints only had one turnover and the D got the ball right back a few plays later.

That and both Roby and PT had kickoff returns that put the Saints in great field position. Roby at the beginning of the 2nd half and PT when overtime started.

I do think that was the most exciting Saints I've ever seen. I know there was plenty of drama in the Super Bowl, falling behind early and then the onside kick to start the 2nd half. And of course the Pick Six towards the end to seal it when it looked like the Colts were driving down to score.

but there was just something about the NFC Championship game that can't be topped. I guess obviously it was the overtime period taking extra time to get the win. But the journey is just as sweet as the end of it all.

I remember waking up after maybe 2 hours of sleep the next morning not wanting it to be over. So I watched a replay of the game

Edit: I didn't do that after the Super Bowl which I thought that I would before hand. But it just didn't happen like that.

The fact that this answer isn't SF divisional game in 2011 will forever be my biggest sports sads given that it came at the end of the week after The Rematch

Super Bowl is the clear winner, executing pretty much perfectly against a truly great Colts team.

Agree with everyone about Pats 09 being up there just because of Pats quitting at the end, Devery is still backstroking untouched to this day

I'd put the Giants 09 game right up there with it as well. They were 5-0 coming off a great year in 08 and we stomped them almost identically to the Pats. Very satisfying win that probably was our first real glimpse of how special that team could be.

I'd also like to throw out MNF Miami in 2013. After Goodell stole 2012, Payton was back and this felt like we were going to run through the league with a vengeance.

Holy shite we stomped their dicks in the turf to start of 4-0 (they were 3-0 going into the game as well).

Cam and Junior terrorizing that backfield really had me feeling like we had the D to make a run again after the mess that was 2012. Three picks and the three sacks don't represent how much pressure Tannehill was under all game.

Brees was lights out: 30/39 413 10.6 4 0

And he spread the ball all over that D:

D. Sproles 7 114 16.3 1 48 8
J. Graham 4 100 25.0 2 43 5
M. Colston 7 96 13.7 0 21 8
K. Stills 4 38 9.5 0 18 6
P. Thomas 5 37 7.4 0 21 6
N. Toon 1 18 18.0 0 18 2
J. Collins 1 6 6.0 0 6 1
B. Watson 1 4 4.0 1 4

After missing out on what should have been our second SB in three years in 2011 and losing 2012 to bullshite, that game in 2013 really made me feel like we were going to take it all.

Definitely one of my favorites.

Idk the 09 giants game was one of the most fun for me to watch because it signaled we had arrived... but it's gotta be 09 NFC Championship

This game has no business as a "best game ever", but since no one else has mentioned it and it is memorable to me,

Saints-Rams 2001

We were down 21-3 and come back to win 34-31 thanks to some Aaron Brooks heroics and some Rams WR turnovers. We were not out of the playoffs yet at this point so it had an air of importance also.

Whipping the Patriots, Packers, and Steelers at home were all great as well.. as was Hakeem drops the ball... but the NFC championship game is the greatest.

My vote goes to a saints game way back on September 16, 1973 against the falcons. Falcons won 62-7

I remember after the NFCC game just going outside and walking around in the backyard so no one in the house would see the tears.
I was at the Saints first game so that was pretty special after so many years of struggle and almost making it too few times.
Two weeks later, with a lot of folks , I enjoyed the insanity of winning a Super Bowl! Both games are the greatest for me: getting there and then not blowing it and winning the damn thing in fine style!!!!

You beat me to it. It was going to post that it may not have been the best Saints game ever...but definitely the best post game show ever.

2009 had so many candidates for this.

But, I enjoyed Brady and Belichick pouting on the sideline so much that i'll go with that one.
