Seems a bit high for a half year rental but Eagles are desperate to keep pace with Wash.

I read something interesting that makes sense. The Eagles are exploiting the compensatory pick system. They don't plan to retain him after the season, so they can give up a 3rd round pick knowing they will get a 3rd or 4th for him as a compensatory pick when he leaves in free agency. Pretty smart on their part since they could fit his salary into their cap this year.

Very smart and I could of seen us doing it if it was a 4th.
A third is a round to high for me.
But if they get it right back they can't lose.
I really wanted tate we need another receiver in my opinion

Welp. I figured when it was said mid round they meant 3rd or high 4th.

I'd doubt the pick will be that high. It's based partly on his new contract and I don't see him getting big bucks at his age.

At best they may get a 4th, but a 5th is much more likely.

That also means that can't be that active in FA (unless they have a lot of players on the last year of their deals they won't resign and other teams want).

Seems like a lot of hassle to MAYBE get a 4th back.

Mid could also mean 5th, but that seemed too low for someone like Tate. That's why I thought at best it'd take two 5ths from us to have a shot.

Guess they determine that getting Tate is worth the risk of the pick going down by a round. I would have to agree.
Then if they get a good FA signing and dont get the pick it nullifies it anyway.
The point is it’s very little risk for a really good player

Yeah I can see that part of it. Just was pointing out that whoever says they'll get the third back is overreaching (plus they'd still have to wait a year for it, so it'd be valued a round down for whatever they may get).

question,
what are the odds that marcus williams wouldn't even be able to put a hand on Tate on this play?
