Why would she sell the team? She's making a ridiculous profit owning an NFL team

It’s the same reason Brees doesn’t live here either. He would absolutely never say it out loud, but the city just sucks

Of course not, he has WalkOns and too many business interests in the area but he is wisely raising the kids in San Diego.

I think the current ownership and power structure had more to do with Sean leaving, than New Orleans sucking as a city. New Orleans is easy to shite on, especially for the people that actually live in New Orleans, or for the rest us that could be in New Orleans in an hour. People can hate on New Orleans all they want, but New Orleans still remains a tourist destination for people around the world. The fact is that New Orleans is lucky to have two professional teams in 2025, and something needs to change in leadership for that to continue. The problem is selling the Saints to someone who will actually keep the team in New Orleans. Can the city, state, and Saints fans everywhere trust someone like Todd Graves to keep the Saints in New Orleans? That’s the question.

If the city sucks so bad, why is his wife back in New Orleans all the time and why does Sean in his limited free time hang out with people from New Orleans.
Sean left because he saw the writing on the wall. He was not going to be able to coach his way out of the terrible roster hamstrung by the cap.
Also, on the stupid relocation cap if and when the team is sold there will be a caveat that the team remain in New Orleans for a significant period of time. Current ownership will not worry about the $1-2 billion that stipulation will decrease the value. There are no direct heirs and those that benefit from the sale are die hard New Orleanians that will not want that stain on their legacy.

100% truth. I don’t understand what’s so hard to see about that? A Gold Digger owns the team and that same Gold Digger seems to be perfectly fine with the leadership under her. It’s nothing personal against a woman that weaseled her way into more money than any of us will ever see. She played her cards perfectly, but that doesn’t mean she knows shite frick about running an NFL team in a small market. So far, it’s pretty clear that she listens to the yes men that are only worried about keeping a paycheck.

Money and Prestige drives Everything !!
Gayle won’t sell the team because …
(A) Team is guaranteed to make money every year…
(B) The franchise is guaranteed to increase in monetary value over time….
(C) Gayle won’t give up the significant prestige of being the owner.
Remember, the Saints were purchased by Benson for $ 72 Million….
Franchise now worth minimum of
$ 2.2 Billion !!!!
Any buyer of the team would try to move it to a better market ….to make more money.
The NFL would encourage moving the team to a better market so the NFL, as a whole, ……would make more money.
The ONLY manner the Saints would remain in New Orleans longterm …
IF A Sale were to occur :
1). IF… Benson built a clause into his Last Will stating ….any future sale of the team stipulates the Saints remain in New Orleans for a specific minimum number of years before movement would be allowed.
2). IF a group of Local entrepreneurs
(ie., The Manning Family and others, etc.) we’re to purchase the team and have no intention of ever moving it.

If Todd Graves is willing to keep his multibillion dollar company headquartered in Louisiana, I think he’d be willing to keep the Saints in the city

There’s a reason why recent history has shown most quality businesses eventually have to flee New Orleans and Louisiana.
The Saints will ultimately be no different. There is no stipulation or contractual arrangement that can’t be broken.
The city is doomed, whether it’s the business climate, population loss, inability of residents to get basic home insurance, geographical subsidence, etc. the region is a house of cards that is going to and needs to collapse.
The Saints leaving will expose all your filthy votes and corrupt leaders and their part in taking this down.

Couple of things:
1) Local revenue makes up about 17% of an NFL teams overall revenue pie. From my observations, the new crop of owners are buying teams as a hobby business. I'm not saying they do not want to make money, but increasing marginal profitability by a few percentage points is not a primary focus. What is the potential incremental revenue that would result from a relocation. Start penciling a calculation - getting to $50M annually was difficult. Keep in mind that unlike baseball and basketball, local TV revenue is not a factor. Does $50M or even an extra $100M that meaningful to a multi-billionaire?
Take Penner with the Broncos, who is spending $175M on a new practice facility. The best team in the league (Chiefs) have the worst facilities in the NFL - so where is the ROI argument for having the best? What about spending $25M per year for Sean, when you could easily pay less to another coach? There are countless examples like this throughout the NFL now.
The Jerry Jones and Tom Benson type owners that need to focus on the bottom line of their franchises are extinct. Paired with the fact that Gail does not have to worry about inheritance tax or providing a windfall to a next generation, make the franchise more secure than most.
One caveat to this, if PE is ever allowed to own a majority of a franchise, incremental revenue will become very important.
2) In terms of New Orleans discussions on this board, rationality often is discarded on this board. No doubt, New Orleans has extreme issues and threats (especially environmental). However, from a business standpoint, there is no material difference between today and 25 years ago and in fact you could argue its stronger.
GDP of the region in 2023 was $102B vs 46.2B in 2021. In 2019 (pre-COVID), when I was the most optimistic about the future of the city from a economic prospective, GDP was about $83B.
In terms of my own experience, living here, the city is better today than when I moved here in 1998 from a quality of life standpoint - better amenities being the primary factor. FWIW - crime was horrible here in the 1990s so I see no difference. Please note that I say this while believing that New Orleans has significant and frustrating issues, mostly of our own making.
