Front Office strengths and weaknesses

Drafting- Strength
Grade A+
Manipulating the cap- Depends how you view it, could be a strength or weakness
Grade C
Free Agency- Strength
Drew, Demario, Vilma
Byrd, Browner is the negative
Grade B-
Trading- Weakness Gave a 3rd rounder to get Bradley roby and let CGJ walk for a 5th.
Did they even inquire about TJ Hockerson who was had to a division rival for not much. It’s not like we need a tight end or anything. If anything we could’ve packaged CGJ with a 4th for Hockerson if we held on to him
(I know it’s a small sample size)
Grade F
Contracts- B I don’t mind paying our best players, they just need to play

I agree with most of what you said but I think Roby was a good trade. I know he's given up some passes, but he overall holds his own out there and played well last year. Everyone healthy he isn't a bad player to have out there, especially as a 3rd or 4th CB, and good enough to play a few games as a #1 or 2.

I’m not disputing that, I’m more salty about giving up CGJ for less than we gave up for Roby

The weakness is that Loomis is old and out of touch now on how to build an NFL roster, and what worked under Payton 15 years ago doesn't work today.
We desperately need new blood at the GM spot and at the HC spot.
There's no way I'm ready to anoint Dennis Allen after that Raiders win. Not optimistic how we follow up against the Ravens.

Do you consider draft picks as a drafting strategy or under trading? I think the drafting grade should be devalued simply because of the draft pick trades and think it falls under draft strategy
If they did not manipulate the cap so aggressively every year, it would definitely be a strength. But at some point, you have to pay off that debt, and they are so deep in I am not sure how they would be able to do it without sacrificing multiple years. Hell, they are already 25%+ over next year's cap and still need to sign 15 more players to the active roster and practice squad guys. Only way to fix that is to screw up 2024's cap, then 2025, 2026...
This has to be a weakness because the manipulations are now a necessity and not to be creative to be competitive.

We have arguably a top 5 roster in terms of talent and depth. Front office has done a great job building a roster to compete year in and year out. Our current issue is coaching and injuries.
If we had a decent coach, we beat at least the Bengals and Vikings, and we are sitting at 5-3 without anyone giving the front office shite.

You have a point but I’m strictly talking about when they make the pick. The part you’re talking about is trading which is why I would grade them with a F

Agree with the first part, disagree with people giving the front office shite even if the team was 8-0. Wouldn't be as heated, but you'd still have the questions around MT, Winston decision, (less hate about trade to get Olave), Peat contract...

If we didn’t do Drew a favor and let him come back for that last year Brady would have won 2 for us

The weakness is Loomis.
They cant fire him, according to some of yall.
So they absolutely need to move him to another position within the franchise where he has no connection with the personnel department.
