22. Saints: If Drew Brees can keep setting the all-time record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass each week, will the Saints keep getting calls down the stretch to ensure that the team also wins the game?

We DID get big calls at the end. It's undeniable.

I also think there were bad calls (mostly non-calls) against us. I thought Smith was being held on several plays, but never drew a flag.

Did it affect the ultimate outcome of the game? Maybe. But it happens every week, in every game.

What big calls did they get? The calls to put the Chargers in 3rd and 37 or whatever it was got wiped out by a 5 yard automatic first down penalty. If anything the PI that put them on our 6 yard line was pretty bullshite

ETA: just remember PI on Gates. I was at the game so he couldn't tell if he actually did anything, but that get balanced out by our phantom PI IMO

Colston was molested on at least two of his three touchdown passes, and it was finally called on the 3rd one. I think Gates wouldn't have gotten called if it hadn't obviously caused separation between Harper and himself. He extended and got separation, which is pass interference.

If we didn't get called for a hold in GB...

If a hold had been properly called against KC...

PI on Gates

That's the one that sticks out in my mind as well.

It sure didn't wipe out the yards associated with the prior penalties.

Which was really the main point I was trying to make.

It did and it didn't. Had it not been wipes away, there was about 98% chance the game is over in two plays. Instead, they get 1st and 10 and get to continue down the field.

Will Smith was held on his roughing the passer penalty. The tackle had him around the throat.

That non-call was freaking terrible. As was the roughing the passer call.

If Harper doesn't stumble and fall then the PI isn't called.

There are big "ifs" in every game and for PFT to highlight this and try to downplay the Saints one victory was petty.

I hear where you are coming from, but after the 5 yard penalty, they had still been penalized 1/4 of the entire field.

The converse of your argument is also true. That is, if not for the penalties against SD (assuming some were bad calls), there is a good chance they are within 20 yards of the endzone with over 1 minute left. Instead they had 1st and 37 on their own 30ish.

Anyhow, the point is, there were bad calls against both teams, theirs just came during an attempted game-winning drive.
