Indeed, as does weight loss. shite, you can eat 5 lbs of crawfish and wake up the next morning 5-7 lbs heavier from sodium/water weight. Who knows, the LF camp may got his weight up at weigh in to make his 40 time look all that more impressive
I'm routinely 5-8 lbs heavier on Monday than I am on Friday for similar reasons

Have said for years Fournette should lose 10-12 pounds and improve his lateral quickness and explosiveness (ala what Bell did post-Michigan State).
I would have preferred him at or just under 230.

I mean that's been around his playing weight in college....
He's shown great lateral quickness.

Disagree.
Cook and Guice showed the lateral quickness. Fournette showed incredible straight line speed and explosiveness, but he could improve his start-stop and quickness.

Leonard Fournette weighs in at 240, putting a spotlight on his speed

Ploy to increase draft stock.

Former LSU running back Leonard Fournette was the heaviest man in the group when the running backs hit the scales at the Scouting Combine on Wednesday. But will his weight be viewed as a positive or a negative?
Fournette weighed 240 pounds, and he measured at 6 feet, one-half inch. That’s five pounds heavier and half an inch shorter than LSU listed him at.
Five pounds and half an inch isn’t a big deal, but it will cause NFL teams to focus a little more closely on his speed when he runs the 40-yard dash and other on-field drills on Friday. If Fournette can show off blazing speed at 240 pounds, he can solidify his status as a Top 10 pick.
On the other hand, if Fournette runs slower than expected, that will raise questions about whether he’s a plodder who used his size to break tackles at the college level but won’t have the burst to pull away from defenders in the NFL.
All eyes in Indianapolis will be on Fournette when he steps to the line on Friday.
Ploy to increase draft stock.

Is he planning to play fullback?

Yea, about that:
And his accelerations is absolutely exceptional for someone of his size

doubtful.
LF is unquestionably more athletic than the rest.

nfl teams will want to get him down somewhere between 225-230.
no one is going to care if he's carrying 10 extra pounds at the combine...unless they're stupid. so yeah maybe the browns will cross him off their board.

Ricky Williams is the only questionable one.
240 for ricky Williams is about 10 lbs overweight...no reason to sound the alarm. these are kids that have had a couple of months off and haven't been in skewl
I don't think the conditioning in college is by any means lacking, but I imagine it's a step up in the pros and you have money so you can hire people to cook for you (which is actually what Williams did)

"How do you feel about going to the Saints at #5, Leonard?"

For 2 seasons we got to see him reach his full potential
He was IMO the best for that brief period
Fournette is special though but Ricky had natural vision

IF fournette is the same beast in the pros as he was in college I'll start watching a little bit more football
Watching him spin and throw people off his shoulder and run over him is one of the most exciting things in sports. It's like watching mike Tyson knock someone out or Jordan dunking

Oh me too. I just hope he doesn't catch an injury bug. He isn't known to be injury prone but there's no telling what can happen after just one injury. Keeping him fresh will be key.
