We'll keep him on the team. He does have speed and quick agility. But, this is the way we treat his skills. He takes the league average for 2nd string running backs. From there all extra money is based on statistics such as yards and touchdowns. This is all the proof that you need that he not worth anywhere close to what he is being paid.
I like how all the Bush haters conveniently point out Bush and say he doesn't deserve X amount of dollars because he doesn't put out performance numbers comparable to the players you like.
You don't say a word about Alex Brown who made $4.5 million more than Carl Nicks. Or that Randall Gay made $2 million more than Tracy Porter. Or that Jimmy Wilkerson made $300,000 more than Lance Moore. Or that Courtney Roby made $500,000 more money than Robert Meachem. Or that LB Kawika Mitchell made $1.6 million more than Sedrick Ellis. Where's the outrage and the calls for their heads on a stake? There shouldn't be any, but there shouldn't also be any for Reggie.
Our team is comprised of multiple players with contracts at different stages, not based on yearly stats. We don't field a team all with contracts based solely on annual performance incentives. Some players were lowly drafted and are playing out their contracts for a big payday on their next contract. Some are highly acquired draftees/free agents who are playing out their contracts and will probably take a pay cut or be cut.
Reggie Bush was supposedly overpriced in 2010 & 2009 and yet we somehow the Saints still afforded to play 53 players & practice squad guys both years, and ended up with the 2nd best record in the NFC last year & won the Super Bowl the year before. Loomis knows what he is doing. A lot of you narrow-minded fake GM's blinded by hate don't have a clue. It's obvious you just want to punish him with a league minimum salary just for not meeting the Gale Sayers expectations you demanded of him, totally dismissing his value that Loomis & Payton clearly see.
We all know Reggie will take a pay cut. Loomis will not allow Reggie to be our highest paid player with $11.5 million while Drew Brees makes $9.8 million. But who cares if he makes starting RB salary if Loomis & Payton feel his skill set can help bring us another championship while still fielding a team of 53 winners as it has been done in the past?

Because all of those guys you mentioned making relatively little money are on their rookie deals, and Brees is still making $10m a year. That's all going to change very soon, and Bush's deal will start affecting the teams future immediately. Look at the money Benson spent last year without a cap (3rd highest payroll). He frontloaded the shite out of Evans's deal, and it's going to help us in the longrun. Every penny counts now. Ditch Bush and free up some cash to frontload someone's deal now and make things easier on us in the near future.

What player in the past was a casualty because of Bush's "outrageous" 1st round pick contract?
Deuce? Charles Grant? Bobby McCray? Shockey? Fujita? Brunell? McKenzie? John Carney? Troy Evans? Buck Ortega?
Point is, when have Loomis let a true difference maker go?

Don't think anyone is saying Bush is earning his current contract like the douche OP suggests

I know, huh? With all the support/hate, I don't know ANYONE who EVER said that he was worth the contract. Why do they still have gumps that think otherwise?

exactly
People come on here bitching about the money, trying to make points that were acknowledged in 2006 when he signed the deal. Reggie knew he wasn't ever getting that money. Reggie doesn't want to go into his last year of his contract without a new long term deal as much as we don't want to give him 11.8 mil this year.
That said, give Reggie a mil a year more than Pierre. Trade Pierre to New England for a 2nd rounder and let Ingram and Reggie throw it down Heisman style for the next 5 years.
eta: thanks again WDF

Reggie's current/previous contract was a product of his draft status. His future contract will be a product of his value to the team if he stays.
