*FIXED* Information on the game officials. 3 of these 4 involved in the play

Bill Vinovich
Head Referee
Lake Forest, California -- 1 hour outside Los Angeles
Todd Prukop
Back Judge
Ladera Ranch, California -- just south of Los Angeles
Gary Cavaletto
Side Judge
Lifelong resident of Santa Barbara, California -- 1.5 hours outside Los Angeles
Patrick Turner
Down Judge
Lakewood, California -- just outside Los Angeles
College: Cal State Long Beach -- Los Angeles
That's 4 of the 7 officials with ties to the hometown of the game they're officiating.
Imagine for a minute a Saints game in the NFC Championship versus say, the Bears and 4 of the 7 officials are from, Hammond, New Orleans, LaPlace and Mandeville.
That is all.

Caveletto and Patrick Turner were the two guys closest to the play. Cavaletto was the guy who waved off Payton. Turner was the black official who reached for the flag and then decided against it.

ehhh... Prukop's area was more the middle of the field than the sideline... though he very well could've thrown his flag
take out Prukop and add in down judge Patrick Turner... he's the 1 who actually grabbed for his flag and then decided against throwing it
ETA: and yes Turner is from SoCal

what rule?
about officials living in the area of 1 of the teams working that team's game?
I doubt there are any... but right now it is SUPER bad optics for the league

I'll add Bill vinovich. And yeah I forgot that it was Patrick Turner and I had read somewhere that he's from the Los Angeles area as well but now I can't find that information. Someone help me out with a link.

Another problem with Vinovich is that he was called out in the national and local media in the week leading up to the game as the Rams lost the last 8 when he was in charge so he had reason to do whatever possible to not change that call at the end or make it himnself.

Wonder if that petition against the refs the week before the game was just a ruse. Part of the bigger plan. They knew the frickers were gonna sway it the Rams way if given the chance, and they were getting ahead of the backlash by calling the crew out as anti-Ram

Note to The Goat....Where do you live now that the DKE house is closed?

It was the very first thing I thought of right after the screw job. My mind immediately went to the petition that the supposed Rams Fans started claiming bias against the Rams for This Crew. First thing I thought of, where was the favoritism the saints were supposed to receive?

That crew had overseen an 0-8 record for the Rams prior to this. Was it all just a long con?

crews change... esp in the playoffs when they're supposed to be "all-star" officials... the highest graded of the regular season
The Rams had lose 8 straight with Vinovich as the head referee
FWIW... Vinovich only had 3 members of his regular season crew with him in Sunday's game

Why couldn't we have had one from da Parish?

No clue but obviously the marching orders came down. There's no other reasonable explanation for three guys that are staring right at the play who all also happen to be from the Los Angeles area to miss a call that the whole world saw. Three different calls on one play actually.

Was that record partly due to the fact that the team was not yet relevant in the NFL marketing plan.
This was an allstar crew and not Vinovich's regular crew.

Once the threat to his Key was gone the BJ would absolutely move to the action

THIS. Perhaps the plan was to just let the teams go at in hopes the Rams could win outright. But once the Saints were in a favorable position, strike them down. Victory for the Rams was assured well before the game itself. At least that's how it seems to me.

That doesn't make sense to me though. If the call came down, why would you want it to be a bunch of guys from LA to do it. They don't need motivation if the call came down.
