The same guy who picked Colston, Nicks, Evans and Graham.

your definition of Bust is severly flawed - Ryan Leaf was a bust. Purple Drank himself was a bust.

compared to those 2 alone, the ones you listed have done pretty well.

If the Saints could do it all over again would any of these players be worthy of a 1st round pick?

These guys are far from busts in my opinion. Out of curiosity, what is your definition of a bust? If it is that they dont turn into HOF caliber players the day they touch the field then i agree, but there are far worse people at their positions on different teams than these guys.

I wouldn't call them "busts" but none of them played up to the level of their draft position...even remotely closely IMO.

It would depend on who else was in the draft.

Here's what you have to remember though. None of these picks were considered bad picks at the time. There were one or two other players some people wanted, but they were all close to their projected spots. None were reaches.

I love when people use the excuse that we need to give MI more time and more carries....his problems aren't the amount of carries he's getting, it's a complete lack of vision and going down on first contact.. Those arent things you can just jump in the film room and fix. The guy is Getting 12-13 carries a game right? I mean he's not showing Anything in those carries to justify him Gettin the ball more.

What system could MI be successful in?

I said this before and I'm sticking too it.

quote:

I don't think Ingram will be an all pro in our system, but I think he has potential to be a very good running back in years to come.

I think a lot of 'bigger' backs need time in the NFL until they get it. Some guys I think he can compare to who had slow starts.

Thomas Jones (7th overall pick for Arizona) Yards and TDs:

2000 ARI 373 2
2001 ARI 380 5
2002 ARI 511 2
2003 TB 627 3
2004 CHI 948 7
2005 CHI 1,335 9
2006 CHI 1,210 6
2007 NYJ 1,119 1
2008 NYJ 1,312 13
2009 NYJ 1,402 14
2010 KC 896 6

Cedric Benson (4th overall pick by Chi) Yards and TDs:

2005 CHI 272 0
2006 CHI 647 6
2007 CHI 674 4
2008 CIN 747 2
2009 CIN 1,251 6
2010 CIN 1,111 7
2011 CIN 1,067 6

Deuce McAllister (23rd overall by the Saints) with Yards and TDs:

2001 NO 54 1
2002 NO 1,388 13
2003 NO 1,641 8
2004 NO 1,074 9
2005 NO 335 3
2006 NO 1,057 10
2007 NO 92 0
2008 NO 418 5

Beanie Wells (31st pick overall to Arizona) with Yards and TDs:

2009 ARI 793 7
2010 ARI 397 2
2011 ARI 1,047 10

Not saying he will parallel these numbers, because most became the primary running back after a year or two, but I think he has good potential to be in this group of guys, IMO.

So far Ellis is the main bust. I consider Bush a bust, nowhere near the hype, serviceable isn't top 5 pick material. Basically all the USC players, including Charles Brown, 2rd pick.

Too early to say for Jenkins, Jordan, Robinson, and Ingram. Ingram might be worth a 1st round pick, but not two.

I love how a 2nd year player like Jordan who has been one of the few bright spots this year is a 'bust'

God himself couldnt live up to the hype he had coming to NOLA. People expected way to much and when he didnt get 4000 yrds and 75 tds in his rookie season they dumped all over him. He did well here, he was huge in our win over the Cards in the playoffs, and he has done well in Miami. What the frick did people want Bush to do? Haters gonna hate i guess.

Saying Will Smith is a bust is a frickin joke. A really bad one.

I agree that some of them may not have lived up to their draft position, but there are much better examples of a bust than anyone on that list.

Also a great response.

Still say Ellis is the closest to a bust.

Whether Ellis is a bust or not is an argument of semantics.
The same can't be said about the others.

In my opinion Ellis has been a bust for a while. He has done shite in 3 years.

More considering he was the 2nd pick in the draft. He was decent, would have been worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but not the 2nd overall. Plus him being a diva anytime their was talks of another RB coming on board. I wonder why they needed a new RB when they had the second overall pick on team? Probably because Bush couldn't hack it. He was a solid player, playing on a GREAT team. Weapons at QB, WR, OL and all he still couldn't be consistent enough to even be the starter. I wouldn't consider him a bust if he wouldn't have been the 2nd overall pick, but since he was it's fair to say that he's a bust, even considering his performance at the Dolphins.

something wrong with talent evaluation.

The same evaluators found Lance Moore, Colston, grabbed Nicks in the 5th, Bushrod 4th, etc etc. They can spot offensive talent a mile away with what seems to be no effort at all.

They need to quit evaluating defensive players apparently.

As a Saints fan since 1967, NONE of these guys are busts. You want busts:
Les Kelley
Rick Middleton
Larry Burton
Russell Erxleben
Shawn Knight
Alvin Toles
Alex Molden
Billy Newsome ( acquired in trade for 2nd overall pick in Draft, which turned out to be Bert Jones, my favorite Tiger of all time, All- Pro in Baltimore)

THESE ARE BUSTS!!!!!!!!
