They’re in field goal range, no? All they needed was 3. You know damn well they would’ve made that kick to win it.

The clock would have run out. They had no timeouts left. If Williams just grabs Diggs and falls to the ground, the game is over

The tackle could’ve been made inbounds, he also could’ve pushed digg out of bounds. Both actions result in game over for the Vikings

Stopping forward progress keeps the clock running, even if he's pushed OB. Not that we get the call on the road.

Williams was between him and the sidelines and missed the guy by 2 ft. Simply trip the guy and the game is over. There was 10 sec left with the snap. Tackle him in bounds and the refs can’t even get ball set before time runs out.

By push I mean start the tackle in bounds. Even if they end up out of bounds the clock continues to run. Offensive player has to get out of bounds on his own accord

He could have waited for Diggs to land and then tackle him to the ground. Game over.
The worst part is Crawley could have made the tackle but Williams took him completely out of the play

If Brees/Payton/offense doesn't start that game 0-17 with no time and no yards and 2 turnovers we are never in that position in the first place.
If Ted Ginn isn't illegal shifting we have a TD earlier.
If we pick up that third down they never get the ball back.

I'm amazed by the lack of football knowledge here based on some of the posts on this thread. Minn had no time outs, tackled him in bounds, game over. Push him out of bounds, game over, break up the pass and they get one more snap from the original line of scrimmage. The only way the Saints could have lost this game is the way they did it or I guess they could have been called for another pass interference and the Viking could have kicked a field goal, but that is another story.
I just sucks because the offense did everything they needed to do to win the game and once again the Saint defense let the team down.
