the type of throws he makes fits our offense

I’m just gonna be honest, he does not fit our offense at all. I’m not saying he couldn’t, but the system he played in at Tenn could not be more different. They don’t do post snap reads. Yeah, it’s not that different from some offenses in the NFL (like the Eagles), but it’s very different from ours. Our offense requires full field progressions on almost every play.

Doesn’t mean he couldn’t work here… but he’d have a lot to prove to get the Saints to consider him imo

If they’re even considering trying to sign Jimmy G or Carr, there’s dark times ahead.

Crazy part is we have all of the pieces to run an offense like that, even most of the o-line. Just don’t have an innovative OC to put that style of offense together.

And to be fair to Pete, I’d question if Payton would be able to run it as well. Simply because I don’t think he’s ever had a QB to run it, even back in his QB coaching days

Well, it's not the worst thing they could do.

Yeah. That's why even though IMO Pete got too much shite for the offense last year (it worked well at certain points this season), I still wanted him gone because I just so desperately want to move to a simpler offense. A lot of the league has done that. We don't have Sean anymore, who was the architect of the 10,000 play offense we have...so why do we still have his offense? It's just maddening

I wonder if Davis mills could be had. I think he has some potential

If the Texans get Bryce Young it will be interesting to see what they do with Mills long term. I cant imagine they would trade him for anything less than a 2nd round pick as his cap hit is only $1.4M and they would pay a veteran backup 3 times that. I could see them starting him for half the season, giving the reins to Young and moving Mills after the season.

Even with an absolute shite show of ownership, they are in a world better shape than the Saints`.

I like getting Hooker, a lot. I don't get keeping Dalton though. I see no reason to draft a 25 yr old Hooker and not start him. In fact you need him playing the'23 season to see if he is the guy as it would determine what you do with the first pick in '24. If you do that, you don't need a $10M guy carrying a clipboard.
