As a matter of fact yes. I used to play center and was taught by my coaches to recognizes blitzes and was given the authority to change protections for the O Line. If that’s something I was taught in high school, I’m sure the NFL teaches that.

Some interesting stats to consider from Sunday:

• Panthers pressured Winston on 48.3% of his passes, 14 total (PFF)
• Winston's avg. time to throw was 3.08 seconds, 5th best in the league, per NextGen Stats.

This indicates Winston did a good job of buying time with his legs.

also interesting... though off-topic

Carolina's Robby Anderson & D.J. Moore had average separation figures of 1.3 and 1.6 yards vs. the Saints, both among the lowest in the league for Week 2. They combined to catch 11 passes for 117 yards & a TD.

So we played great coverage just better offense

you think the o-line should make their own reads and change protections all on their own?

Every oline has a player that is responsible for that. Depending on the team, the QB either helps the oline, or the oline helps the QB; but every oline has that 1 guy (typically Center, but can be a guard).

Regardless of who it is supposed to be, there is never an excuse for a player (Ruiz 3 times) to have a guy right in front of you and you turn your head away while just extending your arm. Carolina had way too many free passes for it to be 1 persons fault

I am in no way giving him a pass, but I really only count 1 INT for Jameis, and that is the off balance YOLO throw. The second one was when the game was out of hand and even Brees was prone to those.

And the second one was not a bad decision. It was an over throw of an open Johnson under, you guessed it, lots of pressure.

The o-line was a total disaster. Worst performance of the Payton era up front.

Learn some football. Its done often. How do you think its done when the players can't hear due to crowd noise?

You have never seen olinemen point either I guess.

JW is just a never was and never gonna be. It’s not his fault he doesn’t have the ability. It’s CSP’s fault

There's been plenty stories about McCoy doing the protection calls now that Brees is gone.

You are flat out dumb. Even a great like Peyton Manning had a center like Jeff Saturday he depended on to make line adjustments. The two of them had to work together presnap with what they saw from the defense. All you tards saying shite like this have no real clue what you are talking about.
