Ravens have cut Safety Eric Weddle. Is there a realistic shot at getting him?

I saw a while back where he said if he’s cut he will retire

ETA: never mind he backtracked on that

I wonder if Mathieu ends up in Baltimore now.

Weddle is still an all-pro safety and will warrant a significant number in his new contract.

The Ravens released safety Eric Weddle on Tuesday. It clears the way for the team to make a run at another safety scheduled to hit the free agent market.

The Ravens are expected to make a “strong push” to sign Texans safety Tyrann Mathieu if he hits the market, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Weddle has been elite for a decade+ now. Even at 34 he can bring veteran leadership and a positive attitude to the back end of this defense. I'm all for it if we can't land Mathieu. He can do everything we wanted out of Kurt Coleman and he won't command a ton of money. Prob a 1-2 year deal around 3 mil per would be fine.

Would be a Darren Sharper-esque signing (minus the rape). Do it Loomis!

Yeah. Most folks missed his great play in San Diego and their shitty tv coverage

Yeah I'm probably in minority but id almost take weddle over badger.

Feel like the honey badger is more name than game.
Weddle is so so smart and tough

I love mathieu and would def sign him but it would have to be a good contract.

The honey badger s injuries really did him in.
He is still a solid player but he is not that same elite guy.

Hasn't been in a few years

Not anymore he’s not. He didn’t play well last year despite having an excellent supporting cast. He’s also old.

He was the number 10 safety by pff metrics.
Passed the eye test in the few games I watched of him.

Even if he is older he is always in the right spot.
He is a ss and Mathieu is more of a fs-slot.

I’d love either Weddle or Badger.
I would boo Landon Collins.

But what do I know? I think Sharper’s charges in Louisiana should have been dropped for helping us win the SB.

He's made the pro-bowl the last three years..Sharper was 33? when he was on the Saints Super Bowl team. I would like to see the Saints get him. Great locker room veteran...

Call me crazy, but I think you might be in the minority on this one.
