Vaccaro will be splitting time with two shitty safeties.

2 of those articles are form 2011, the other 2 are from 2012 and form bleacher report.

Think of our last two playoff defeats. Do you not remember our two illustrious safety getting killed in both those games.

Malcolm Jenkins got toasted against SF. Vernon Davis 7 catches 180 yards 2 touchdowns 2011

John Carlson had 2 Red Zone TDS against Roman harper in man. in 2010.

It is too early to tell on the Eric Reid v Vacarro debate. Lets let the season play out first.

As for the Saints Defense, I believe that Vacarro will be the starting safety by opening day. If not, he is going to play a ton. Personally, I have seen enough of Jenkins and Harper. The playoff loses, the career days by Tony Gonzales, the record we set last year, have put me over the edge with those 2, I know the yardage record is a team thing, but they were a BIG part of it. One step farther, I would like us to cut ties with Harper. He cannot cover. Period. A safety that can't cover is a major liability. Not worried about salary cap ramifications.

One more note, I think we should tell Vilma to take his time getting back with his knee, and see what Ramon Humber can do as a starter with Loftin. I think its Humbers' time.

Otis, do you not know how modern football works? Or how a multiple d base works?

Probably not, but i know a crappy d when i see one. The 2012 Saints defense? That was crappy. How about you? Tell me about your vast knowledge of multiple defensive sets. Tell me how the zone blitz works. What makes the ameba set effective? Why teams switch from 4-3 to 3-4. tell me. Is it due to personnel or a change in philosophy. Tell me what dictates where the Sam LB lines up. Fill me in on all your vast knowledge of multiple defensive sets. Explain modern football to me. What's the QB's first read on the read option? When does he hand off or keep? Which defensive position dictates this, Mr.Rumdog?

Rob Ryan has already stated NUMEROUS times that his packages will call for all three to play. He has different schemes where all three play different roles. As for on paper, who is starting, sure Jenkins and Harper are there, but that doesn't mean Vaccaro won't be in at nickel or coming in often. Honestly, the only real reason Jenkins and Harper are listed as the starters are because they're veterans and it's a sign of respect by Payton and company. If they suck it up, be assured Vaccaro will be replacing someone soon enough.

Being listed as starter is overrated. I am as displeased with Jenkins and Harper as anyone. That being said i don't know what Ryans calls for safeties to do and he might like the skill set of the two we have in place. It could be lets see what we have before putting Kenny in full time. Considering the speed adjustment to the NFL it is never a bad idea to bring a rookie along slowly

I don't think i would have mattered had we drafted Reid. Different teams different coaches different philosophies. If we would have drafted Reid he would be in the same position as Kenny. Brought along slowly and not starting.

He will see plenty of playing time and regardless of the overrated mystical "starting" position. The fact Reid is listed as stater on a different team does not mean he was the better option. It simply means San Fran is taking a different approach

u guys are set on proving this theory wrong....your defensiveness clouds your judgement. Im not taking reid.... or vacarro,,,. but i believe instinctive defensiveness of our beloved player who we all have learned to be excited about...(for good reason) along with need to embarrass and show off in front online/judging friends who like word-belittling phrases; changes the truth of the argument in this post

This thread is dumb, but think about this: the niners traded up lickady split after we took Vacarro, because the run on safeties had begun. If we didn't take him, I bet anything the niners would have traded up to take him. Can you imagine KV in that defense? Sheeeeeiiiiiiitttt.

You're either under 20 years old or retarded. I'm not sure which. But this point you keep coming back to about not starting a top 15 draft pick is irrelevant, unfounded and dumb. Then you admit you don't understand multiple D or any of the schemes Ryan uses.

I'd like to say good troll and good day, but I don't think you're trolling. I think you're serious. Which is funny. Cause you sound like an idiot. You also sound very very much like a poster who used to be here.

Ideally I'd like harper in at strong safety. Let him blitz and stuff the run. Have vaccaro in at FS. He looks great so far. Let Jenkins go back to playing more of a nickel role. We'll have to see who wins the corner 2 spot, but if our defensive back field this year is Harper Vaccaro Jenkins Greer and Lewis/Robinson. I feel pretty confident in that gang of guys.

Now I bid you good day sir

This is all part of Ryans master plan....

He will name Jenkins and Harper the starters and then really start Vacarro and nobody will see it coming...
