Boy, there's always a negative nancy in every thread.

I thought we should have gotten Dante Culpepper. Even though I didn't think Brees would suck, I thought it was a mistake.

i'm pretty sure this is just brees making good with the locals
No, they offered him a contract but it was for less than the Saints had on the table...they also put him through some all-day physical bullshite or something

Lol, I'd love to see a link saying that brees failed his physical in miami OR that the phins offered him less money than the saints. A good friend of mine worked for saban at lsu and worked for him with the dolphins told me that the phins offer was identical to the saints offer, brees chose the saints. The article that a previous poster mentioned about saban being inquisitive may have played a role in his decision.

I have read that Miami offered a bullshite incentive laden contract.
Posted on 9/22/09 at 11:14 pm to rondo
INCORRECT. That's all hearsay. One person says they offered less, another says it was incentive laden, another says he failed the physical.

I read in the Pic son.

I'm entirely positive the Dolphins offered him a contract, regardless whatever else is claimed in this thread

The Dolphins decided to stop waiting for Chargers quarterback Drew Brees to lower his contract demands and opted to give the Vikings a second-round choice to acquire quarterback Daunte Culpepper.
and
Contract talks between the Dolphins and Brees have been stalled because the Saints had more money and more guarantees on the table from the Saints.
From the ESPN article as the deals unfolded. Suggestions that the Dolphins told Brees to hit the bricks are categorically false.

$13 mil is hardly worth a backup RB who brings zero to the table running and catches like 4 passes per game. Oh, and also fumbles...a lot.
