Brees has helped a young man from California named Alex Ruiz by buying a prosthetic leg after his left leg was amputated after a horrific injury last February.

This man continues to amaze with his efforts to be a good human. It is time to get this man one more ring. No freak ups this season. Focused as a laser and sharp as a medieval shank.

BREESUS

Oh but waaaaah he opened a Walk-On’s somewhere, so he should just retire.

Serious, that’s class A stuff from the guy. He does definitely deserve another ring.

You muse have forgotten how capitalism is of the devil.

God forgive a man for wanting to make more money.

Some people fail to realize some folks are better off with more money to do quality deeds for others as Brees as done here.

Others would squander or waste it. Not everyone with money is evil.

Back when Garland Robinette was on WWL radio, he interviewed Drew Brees. It might have been after the Super Bowl win, I don't specifically recall, but his various good deeds in the community were becoming more publicized. Robinette went down a list of charitable things Drew had done and then said something like, "Nobody is this nice. Tell us about some of the bad things you've done. Do you strangle kittens for fun?" Obviously, he was joking and Drew laughed (or was polite enough to pretend to laugh). But it's great to have a guy like Drew on the team. I don't think he minds the good PR, but I don't think that's why he does it. He and his wife seem like they are truly nice people.

This is probably a dumb question, but an artificial leg wouldn't be covered by a school's insurance if the injuries were sustained in a school sanctioned activity? That's fricked up.

This is not normal artificial leg brother.

He got state of the art and also will receive some type of special prosthetic that will allow him to possibly continue playing, if only for recreation.

He went above the pay scale here to provide him a chance to do what he loves in the future.

He doesn't know this kid or owe him anything, but understands how his fame can affect a young persons life and this young man may just grow up defined by this good deed done to him to become an outstanding human being.

I applaud the action but why go around publicizing it? I love Brees as much as anyone but I hate this sort of stuff. In financial comparison it would be like me giving some homeless dude $20 and posting selfies with him on Instagram and Facebook.

The young man made it public. Drew does not self promote.

It would be nice to get this courageous young athlete to the Dome for a game this season and introduce him in the pregame cermonies they do prior to each game.

Did Drew Bree's post it on FB or did someone from the kid's family or school?

Ive read about artificial legs some vets are getting that cost $100,000(+). Admittedly, that includes a knee and the latest technology available. This kid had a below the knee amputation, I believe. Let's say his leg only cost $10,000 and Drew makes $25 million. If my cyphering is correct, that's the equivalent of giving $20 to your local homeless guy if you make $50,000/yr. How many twenties are you throwing around to strangers?

Temecula is probably 30 or 40 miles north of San Diego. I'm pretty sure it's closer to San Diego than downtown L.A.

Not taking anything away from Drew's generosity, but he maintains a home in the San Diego area and at one time spent the offseason there. He makes an effort to maintain a presence in the community. It wouldn't surprise me to see him retire to southern CA. It's pretty darn nice, especially if you've got plenty of money.

Make it the most difficult home game on the schedule.

Guaranteed victory and Brees going into Super Saiyan mode.

Dude is just an great human being. I remember being skeptical when we signed him in 06. Easily the best FA signing in the history of the planet....and not only because of his football skillz.

Yes, Drew had his photo ops on his Instagram account.

He’s probably worth $150 million. My $20 analogy is pretty close. Let’s up it to $40. My point remains the same.

That's kind of cynical. So when Brad Pitt rebuilt a section in New Orleans East with hurricane-proof homes for people who lost everything, I guess you hated that he took pictures and video catching the the new home owners' reaction when Pitt gave them the keys???

There are countless good deeds that are captured every day, not to subtle-brag about their money/saint-hood-application, but rather for heart-warming reactions of those who receive good-will.

There are an infinite amount of news-stories, YT channels and TV programs (Extreme Homes, Ellen, Oprah, etc) that regularly highlight human-interest stories where those in need benefit from charitable citizens. As a matter of fact, that's the sole function of Make-A-Wish & Omaze.

Is it distasteful when Steve Gleason is photographed with a crying/smiling fellow-ALS sufferer that Gleason's foundation provided a new state-of-the-art room designed for ALS needs?

He will absolutely move full time to Del Mar once he finishes playing. No way he stays in New Orleans.
