Manning had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne to throw to. Montana had Jerry Rice. Tom Brady has had the privilege of playing for the greatest coach in NFL history. Brees, on the other hand, has gotten far less organizational help than any of those three quarterbacks. And despite that, he will probably end up retiring as the greatest statistical quarterback in NFL history. This says a lot about the greatness of Brees—perhaps more than rings or wins ever could.

Not that it really means anything, but fun read and nice to see Brees finally get well-deserved acclaim. Lord-willing he stays healthy, a Saint will retire as the greatest passer football has ever seen. Man it just feels good to be winning again. That's all my sunshine pumping for tonight. Let's ride boys!

Colston wasn't underrated. Just like Graham and Meachem learned. When you play with Brees you are elevated to a higher level.

Look at Ginn this year. Having his best season as our third option.

Only player underrated is Brees.

Jon Gruden said Colston was the greatest receiver to never make it to the Pro Bowl. And this article hits the nail on the head.

Brady is easily greatest football player who ever lived.

He belongs with Ruth Jordan Phelps and Federer

Brady is in no way the greatest football player ever. You can give him the QB title, and that’s it. Brady would suck if he had to play any other position but QB on the football field.

Lol what? That logic would apply to every all-time great QB like Marino, Manning, Montana, Brees, etc. I'm going to chose to believe you're trolling.

Greatest QB and Greatest football player aren’t one in the same.

See the difference? I’d stack Jerry Rice’s accomplishments against Brady’s Jim Brown’s, Reggie White’s and many more. But, yes Brady has the QB crown, that’s not debatable in my opinion.

Yeah you're right. Brady would suck at DT.

The article is wrong. He has 500 touchdowns instead of 496.

Nice read.

Except hes not and its not even close. Brady has the stats that matter (not garbage time) and the rings. The dude has thrown like 5 interceptions over the last 2 and a half years

Not to mention his play has not declined as much as Brees. If anything Brady's best 3 years of his career excluding 2007 started at the age of 37. Right about the age Brees' arm turned to mush. Brady's arm actually looks stronger than it did at 24.

I know ya'll have an unreal time accepting the Brees decline, but these are the facts. He's not in the Brady/Rodgers tier anymore

Usually the biggest indicator of low IQ is overuse of the word "idiot." It's the go to rebuttal for anybody who doesn't have the brainpower to come up with a real response.

Ok you want a real response. Brees arm strength wasn't declining was starting at age 37. I honestly do not know where you're getting that from.

Go watch an old Brees highlight video and if you still believe that I want you to make an appointment with your optometrist.

Breauxmosexual got my back

We all love Brees but he's not in the same tier as Brady historically.

Nothing wrong with being in the Elway / Marino class.

Brees has great statistics and has been a great QB. However, a good portion of his numbers are garbage time stats. Brees is a top 20 QB all time, but not top 10.
