@Edwerderespn: Drew Brees extension will be 5 years but automatically voids to two. Committed to Saints this year and next only for $44.25M guaranteed

@Edwerderespn: According to source, Drew Brees cap number with extension reduced from NFL-record $30M to $17.25M.

So its essentially a one year extension? Wtf? That's kind of odd.

I guess we will be back to this after next year.

Void is at player option, team option, or either?

No matter how you slice it, this is great for the Saints organization. Breesus has risen

2 years 44 million guaranteed, that's pretty much it.

In voidable contracts, one party can exercise the right to void after so long. So if it's a 5 year contract with a 2 year void, after 2 years, one side can void the contract, and it ends, basically becoming a 2 year contract.

Great. Wish it wouldn't have taken so long.

22 million for a QB with no OL to block for him, and no way to pay for one.

Brees deal is extremely cap friendly for the #Saints.

Wonder if all of the retards will eat crow.

They won't.

And the reason they don't have money has nothing to do with his pay. Most teams in the league are paying 20 million for a QB. They just are better at drafting and free agency than the Saints. And they don't lead the league in dead money, like the Saints.
