I'd take LT over both of them for what it's worth
The only person who probably take Thomas over Taylor is Marty Schottenheimer because he coached Thomas. Remember though, Taylor would have a tough time in today's climate because of his drug usage & other off the field issues. Nobody would look the other way now. Thomas on the other hand was what every team wants off the field. His charity work is what he is best known for off the field.

Johnson would be a better fit for our current team than Thomas.
You must have smoked some of that shite with LT in your past. You don't take a player like Derrick Johnson over Derrick Thomas. The other players that are even worth discussing taking over Thomas all own yellow jackets too. LT was great because of his versatility & relentless aggressive style but there was NO ONE quicker off the snap than Derrick Thomas. He beat so many tackles simply because he was already past their shoulders immediately after the snap of the ball. You don't understand how much of a nightmare he was to block.

We need to be trading back not up. We have too many holes on this team to piss away all our draft picks for a huge gamble. At least with an abundance of picks the odds go up in finding a stud...we suck at drafting lately.

I think it just depends on who is there. I agree that I don't want to trade up. There's plenty of talent to fill our needs with 5 picks in the higher rounds. Just need to hit on these freaking picks for once!

I'd do picks 13, 78, 154 and next years 2nd to move up.
Only for Williams though. Or Mariota if we can trade Brees for pick 2 and the Titans first rounder next year.

Hmmm. Trading up is almost always a shitty strategy.

Saints could have moved up without giving anything up if they had lost more games

We are not moving up.
We are moving down.
You heard it here first...and 124 times after that.

I'd honestly be for moving back to about 15-20 and getting another 2nd rounder. 6 picks in the top three rounds

I think this as well.
Still get a top guard and a top WR or LB'er and load up in the 2nd round.

Just going off the chart, we'd have to trade back to at least 22 assuming the team picked in the same spot in the first and second rounds. 21-25 would be the range we're looking at to get a first and second as opposed to 15-20.
I think the only way we move that far back is if all the guys in our bubble are gone. If even one of them is there it would have to be a better deal for them to do it.

Make that two spread quarterbacks they got burned by.

To me, it just depends how the top 12 pan out, and what team would want to trade up (how far we move back). I feel like after the two QBs, Williams, Parker, Cooper, White, Scherff, Collins, Waynes, Shelton, Beasley, Fowler, Gregory, and Dupree, there is a huge drop off in talent. I'd hate to miss out on this tier of talent just to acquire another 2nd, especially since we already have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. The quantity is there already, we just have to get quality out of it.

Drooling over draft picks is for bottom dwellers and i don't consider the Saints a bottom dweller.
Get impact players that plug some needs. Thats all i ask for.

Yup if a first or second tier talent is still there it would have to be a damn good deal for us to trade back and we still might choose to make the pick if they guy there is someone we are really sold on.
They've said several times that they look at the player more than where they are picking and they try to get the best value by moving up or back to get the guys they really want(within that value).
We really wanted Mosley or Shazier last year but the value wasn't there in those move ups. We also wanted Cooks and felt the value matched so we pulled the trigger.
That's why this year I can see us trading up, trading back, or staying put depending on who is still available at any given pick. It seems like where we are picking is where the second drop off could happen depending on how it shakes out.

Yup, its all about the Saints draft board and how much they value each player. And to me thats the best strategy.

That doesn't change the fact that they would've had to give something up to move into the top 5.

There is a solid correlation between amount of picks and overall success of the program.

We aren't going to draft and keep 9 players, let alone more. It is very unlikely that 9 rookies would make the team.
I think they are more likely to try and get more picks in the top 80 picks or gain a pick next year than pick 9 players.

By simply looking at the average number of picks of teams over .500 and those who finished below .500*, it’s easy to see there isn’t a strong correlation between success and the number of times a team is drafting. The 16 teams that finished above .500 from 2006-2014, averaged 73.125 picks (8.125 per season). Those who finished below averaged 70.12 (7.79 per season).
