Does drafting a QB feel like a bigger priority now that CSP is gone?

It seems like the next coach we get won’t be able to pull wins out of our mediocre QB’s asses

Does drafting a QB feel like a much bigger priority now?

In my opinion, we need to get a franchise QB immediately, and it looks we will not be getting one via trade

It 100% is.

Nothing matters if you don’t have a QB or an elite coach and we will have neither.

Gotta get the QB. EVERY decision we Make has to be about that until we do.

Sure, but it won't be in the first.

re-sign Jameis, keep DA and Carmichael and run it back

If he drops to our spot, gotta go with him. Maybe trade up, but otherwise, get some receivers and re sign JW.

CSP retiring sucks obviously, but it has suddenly made the off-season a lot more interesting

mediocre QB

That’s all I see in this year’s draft. Mayyyyybe Pickett but not sure on him either. There’s no obvious can’t miss prospect or else he’d be gone before we pick.

re-sign Jameis

I could see us doing that even if we take a QB in the 1st

No, it makes getting a veteran that much more important.

Watson is probably the only one within reach based on his situation. Russ and Rodgers aren't coming. Carr and Cousins likely ride out one final year on their teams.

Jameis would be best case scenario for a FA. Teddy, Fitz, Brisett, Mariota, or Trubisky are more likely.

so you’d rather these guys than a guy like Corral or Pickett if they were available?

If your goal is to pair a rookie QB with a rookie HC and miss the playoffs, then sure.

But we've got an elite defense and teams have won SBs with QBs worse than Brisett and Jameis paired with an elite defense.

FWIW, I think Corral is a disaster of a pick. If Pickett is available I take him and let him sit for at least a year.

I wouldn't waste a 1st round pick on a QB this year. We will probably have a rather high pick in 2023 when the QB class is much better.

Pickett already feels like the guy who gets all the smoke blown up his arse and winds up the first QB off the board... way before we could realistically trade up and get him
