Do other fanbases care as much about 2nd/3rd stringers and practice squad guys as we do?

This is not a complaint. I think it is great. I like underdog stories, and some of my most favorite Saints started this way, ie Lance Moore, Pierre Thomas, Malcom Roach, etc. It seems like we have always found gems there. Is that a norm in the league or is that something that the Saints organization has a knack for?
Who are some of your favorite undrafted guys?

I think the Saints have a knack for it, relatively. We’ve missed on some 1st and 2nd rounders, but have have some real gems, as you put it, in the later rounds and as UDFAs. I know I read or heard something after last year’s draft (or maybe the draft before), that the Saints are one of the most sought after organizations for UDFAs because we have a reputation for going with the best player, even if we’ve spent draft capital on somebody else at the same position. See Pittman/Pierre. We’re not cutting a 1st rounder, and probably not a 2nd or 3rd the 1st year or 2, but we’re not as likely as some organization to give into the sunken cost fallacy and keep clearly inferior players when roster spots are at such a premium.
I mean, it may not work out, but most teams would have kept the “knowns” of Lutz and Gillipin instead of going with the unproven rookies. Not saying we’re completely immune—and we’ll hold onto a handful of guys who may not be performing, but we think have higher ceilings and might still have a chance to be developed, but I think we’re better than most teams in the NFL when it comes to going with late rounders and UDFAs over guys we may have drafted in 3rd-5th rounds. Hell, we gave up on Anthoney and Jean-Baptistse after just 2 years and they were 1st and 2nd rounders, respectively.

A true gem in recent memory was Marcus Colston!

I was a big juwan Johnson fan when he was a udfa.
Most people on here liked Calloway as the wide receiver who would make the roster.

Most of the time the PS heros everyone gets upset with don't rally catch on everywhere they go. There are exceptions admittedly but if you are going off of percentages we usually get it right with who gets cut.
