Matt Ryan's contract is still a massive roadblock for the Falcons. Where would they trade him? I don't think NOLA will try and get him, so that basically only leaves the Colts. What happens if they can't find a trade partner? Could Watson choose us? Surely he's ready to get this over with.
Honest Question.
Who takes the contract?

I, myself, think that it will be VERY hard for the Falcons to move Ryan. I feel like the Colts are wanting a younger option. I have heard that Seattle could be an option, but I think they are in a complete rebuild.

Does anyone know the contract? The only info I see has 40 million in dead cap, which apparently isn't correct.

He makes 30 Million a year, with 2 years left. He'll be a free agent in '24.

He has only been very good or better in two of his years in his career.

2016 and 2018. All other years he was average or worse.

I am sure they will try to trade him but it is probably more likely that they cut him

The cap hit for the team that trades for him is about $31MM, including bonuses and shite. His contract is fricking convoluted due to all the restructures.

It’s not terrible but it’s not great either. Some team will take it. His dead cap hit in 2023 is only $15mm and then he’s a free agent in 2024

They’re going to have to take a bad deal for Ryan if they really want Watson… another reason Watson shouldn’t go there

UPDATE: Matt Ryan will be able to choose his team.
Per-NflRumors on Twitter.

#Falcons will deal Matt Ryan to a team he desires per league source if a #Texans Deshaun Watson deal is done.
Options are the #Seahawks and #Browns

I can’t imagine either Team wanting him so bad they would overpay… I hope they grind their asses on the deal

The browns could convince themselves they’re a QB away from being a contender. Ryan isn’t that washed up.

Seahawks could certainly use him as a bridge QB, but yea why spend much money on that

Seahawks, Colts and Browns have been mentioned.

If they trade him, they won’t get much, if anything other than a late round pick, in return. They may actually have to package him with a higher pick to sweeten the deal.

Not sure of his contract numbers and who could afford him, but Carolina could use a QB. Shannahan coached him and may want to bring him in as a bridge QB for the 49ers. Jets may want to do the same. Chicago? Miami? Pittsburgh?

He was the AP OROY in 2008 and a pro bowl selection in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

He has also been sacked 40+ times in 5 of the last 10 seasons as well as another 30+ sacked seasons (24 & 28 in the other 2).

He was consistently 11 or better in QBR (the ESPN super secret number) and the traditional quarterback rating until 2 or 3 years ago.

I don't want RYan and doubt anybody wants to pay a ogh price for him. His best years were squandered by Atlanta and now he is pretty much damaged goods. But he was pretty darn good for a while in Atlanta, the team has generally just sucked,
