Posted by LSUFreek It will be a replay of the Saints-Vikings rematch of 2010. Vikings were all set to prove to the world how "great" they were in 2009. And with their offseason acquisitions added to their already "great" team, they were sure they were gonna destroy the Saints and then the league. They didn't realize how hard it is to re-ignite the same chemistry of a great season, how lucky it is to stay healthy, or get the same breaks & miracle endings. The Vikings lost to the Saints 14-9, then went 6-10 for the season. Now the Falcons have a suspect OL, a rebuilt secondary, and have heavily invested false hope in their newest used cars: Umenyiora & Jackson. The Falcons will lose to the Saints and their season will be a sure disappointment.

I like this comparison... Solid post

Galette seems to believe he'll be ready to go this week... we'll find out about Tez on Wednesday I'm assuming when the 1st injury reports come out

also of note is the preseason week 3 ankle injury to Asante Samuel... will he be ready?

It's going to be a 38-27 type game. Brees gets the team ahead early while the Falcons play catch up. Atlanta's defense won't be able to stop Brees but the Saints defense will give up some big plays.

Meh, it's simple. If the Falcons Oline shows up:
ATL: 31
NO: 24

If that Oline blows hard:
NO: 34
ATL: 17

I just don't f@cking know.

Our Def is a mystery at this point as also to who will play.

atl has early issues with the O-line and their back end on Def..

I see a typical Saints vs atl. game. Big plays and costly penalties.

Our screen game and Kenny Stills the secret weapons.

Saints win.

Another thing to remember is that even thought this is a big game because its the first game, a divisonal opponent, and an NFC game...that doesnt mean a loss means the season is over.
That being said; I recorded the Falcons, Bucs, and Panthers' preseason games and watched the starters, and I just dont see how any of them are going to keep Brees from shredding them. Not one of them showed exceptional ability to rush the passer and I like our O-line against any of those teams.

Let's see.... my initial thoughts are I fricking hate my fricking company sometimes. They cut all of our overtime and are going to make our shutdown 2-3 weeks without overtime to save a buck... o, except for Sunday. They are forcing me out for prep work to start the shutdown for Monday.... WTF!?! I had to get a second job teaching my craft at night cause I have made half of what I made last year with the cuts. Wife stays home with the kids. The first little bit they force me on opening day against the fricking whore falcons. shite!

I'm sorry

Saints at home, return of Payton, Brees with another huge chip on his shoulder, Ingram being a beast...

Well, except for that last item, all signs point to Saints victory.

I don't know how accurate this is, or the status of Samuel, but I saw a tweet that said the Falcons were starting two rookies Sunday. I'm not sure if they were referring to nickel packages, or just that 2nd and 3rd corners are rookies.

Taking off the fan glasses, I think our defense is a legit concern with all of the injuries at LB. Stephen Jackson always shows up against the Saints - and I think he is ready to run hard against us in his first game playing for a "contender."

If we are to win - it will likely have to be a shootout so here. we. go

If your Oline and CBs show up then I could possibly see 31-24. However I see more holes on the falcons that Saints this year.

Could Gallette and Tez be a liability at this point?

Entirely new defense, zero playing time.

Not trying to be a debbie downer... we may want to have realistic expectations for these guys.

so... 3 sacks ea realistic?

I don't think Tez will make that much of an impact.

I expect Galette will make a splash though.

According to AJ White(ankle) LB Nicholas(quad) Samuels(quad) and Bryant missed Mondays practice, but Smith says they will be ready.

Saints win by 10!

Not flaming, but the Saints D as of now is an entire hole. All the D players last year who played against the Saints are still except Robinson, and the line overall seems to be playing better.

Its going to come down to the pass rush from the Saints. If the Saints can can consistent pressure, it will be a long game for the Falcons. But Rob Ryan is a below average D coordinator. There will be improvement still from last year, but I doubt in week 1.

My predictions, 35-34 Saints. Falcons will have a lead going into the half, the Sean Payton effect will work, and the Saints will come back and win in a nail bitter. But huge concerns will be seen in the Saints D and will not be as effective after Paytons 1st game back.
