It just wasn't happening. All click driven.

It’s insane that Saints fans can’t comprehend the fact that Mickey Loomis has never picked any Saints players! Payton had full control. Smh
I have a friend who gives SP all the credit for the Brees winning years. Says it was all SP and they won in spite of Loomis. Says SP made all the picks and was running everything. When SP left he says Loomis did everything and drafted every player. This thinking along with LSU baseball fans reacting to this season convinces me that Louisiana sports fans are irrationally retarded.

I’m kind of underwhelmed. Injury prone 1st rounder and a lot of projects.
I was hoping we'd draft Tyson with the 1st pick because we desperately needed a WR1. Look at the past 2 years and the drops our WRs and TEs had.
We got the absolute best WR in the draft. Hines Ward taught him so not only can he be a stud at catching but I bet he can block too. If he stays healthy this offense will be exciting again.
Drafting a TE was also a need. JJ is just way too inconsistent.
The offense was always going to be top priority with an offense minded coach.

Biggest win of the last two drafts for me, no crazy moves up.

Another factor in going heavy on offense this draft, particularly pass catcher, is it gives more time for this group to build chemistry with Shough.
I think the team obviously wants to be competitive this year, but really is looking to 2027 and 2028 where we’ll still have Shough’s rookie deal plus a ton of our dead money gone.
It’s easier to go heavy on defense next off season and just plug in new guys as opposed to offense, particularly pass catcher, where it can take some time to build chemistry.
Use this year to get the offense up and running, load up on defense as necessary next offseason in FA and draft, and be really ready to compete at a high level in 2027 and 2028.

No Mickey is still a moron. The only thing he does is defer to the staff. If the staff is good the draft should be good. Mickey is not relevant to this franchise.
