There is no doubt about this. Everybody laughed at Lutz’ comment that he was scared to miss a FG when Payton was the coach. Holding guys accountable is important. Anyone truly think Pete is doing that?

Why? So we could go 9-8 instead of 7-10? What’s the difference? You lose in the first round of the playoffs, at best. If you’re not seriously contending for a Super Bowl, who cares? That’s why signing Derek Carr was idiotic, as some of us said all offseason. The play was to sign Dalton to a 1-year deal, win 4 or 5 games and get a high draft pick, and clean up the cap some.
Payton quit on the Saints so all the more reason not to want him back. He’s proving he can’t do shite without a Hall of Fame quarterback anyway.
