This thread was about Rankins and the trolls turned into a Jarvis Landry thread.

He played a lot better at tackle than guard last season. Tackle to guard isn't an easy transition and not every tackle can do it.

he's not good enough to dictate what we should do in the draft.

shite had we not made the questionable pick last year, we have no qualms about taking Tunsil this year.

Trade Armstead when? Insanely difficult to pull that off when the Saints end up on the clock and Tunsil is unexpectedly available. Trading him after the draft/for future picks isn't ideal for a team in win-now mode.

It's far fetched, but it would be for picks in next year's draft. Joe Thomas is on the block and one team was rumored to send a 1st and 3rd.

i understand we gain some cap next year, but i would be nice to have some extra money by not paying Armstead and plugging in the best player in this years draft, all while acquiring future picks to make this franchise better than what it currently is.

This franchise has no creativity though. Teams like the Patriots don't hesitate to do things like this, cause they are confident in what they do. Our only creativity comes in back loading and converting salary when we are in cap hell because we cant draft.

Armstead is a franchise cornerstone. He'll be here in the long run, and he's earned it

Not sure whats funny. Separation ability is ability to find holes in Zone coverages and create separation at the top of your route in Man coverages and Landry does this better than Cooks and it isn't really arguable. And you didn't refute any of the other points I made. Any other team and a majority of our own fanbase would take Landry over Cooks. Anyways I am done arguing this.

Not when this is on the board. You collect assets and figure it out later

• NFL Net’s Mike Mayock: “He’s got Pro Bowl feet. His pass protection gives him huge upside as a Pro Bowl talent. I have some questions about his ability in the run game. It’s the perfect situation for a young tackle. He can start at right tackle [and eventually] kick to left tackle or move him right into left tackle.”

• ESPN’s Mel Kiper: “He has all the talent in the world. He was the No. 1 player on the board for a reason. Kid has rare ability. Didn’t miss a beat when he came back from suspension [for taking impermissible benefits]. He’s had a variety of injuries but when he’s out there he has been a dominant presence at left tackle 95 percent of the time. I thought he got a little bored with the opposition.

“When he’s on top of his game, he’s a consummate left tackle. Quickness, tremendous feet, the footwork he plays with. As a run blocker, he’s got to fire out a little more.

“The drop [in the draft] had nothing to do with football ability. It had to do with durability – can he a play 16 game schedule? And will he take care of business off the field during the offseason? At one point, I thought he could go No. 1 if Tennessee would have kept the pick.”

• ESPN’s Jon Gruden: “He has what you’re looking for. He’s light on his feet. He has a pass set; it just looks so easy for him for a big man. Ryan Tannehill has been sacked 184 times. Let’s challenge Tunsil. Get it right off the field and prove to all of us you can be a great player for the Dolphins.”

• NFL Net’s Charley Casserly: “Tunsil becomes potentially the steal of the draft as well as the most scrutinized rookie this year.”

• ESPN’s Louis Riddick: “You start to assess the risk versus the reward. If you look at their roster, Branden Albert is going to be 32 in November. This isn’t necessarily a luxury pick. This will be something that pays off down the road.”

• ESPN’s Todd McShay: “Tunsil's ceiling is sky high. He has the natural ability to play at a Pro Bowl level for a long time.”

• Pro Football Focus’ draft guide notes Tunsil “faced the toughest slate of edge rushers of anyone in the country and yielded” no sacks and just five pressures in 185 pass blocking snaps. PFF says Tunsil is "the cleanest tackle to come out of college in some time. Tunsil simply looks different than your average tackle in the NFL.”

• CBS’ Dane Brugler: “On the field, Tunsil is a nimble big man with a rare athletic skill-set for the position, showing above average balance and flexibility to easily bend, handle speed and absorb power at the point of attack. He's not a perfect player, but his flaws are more nitpicking than true weaknesses and potential injuries are the only obstacles keeping Tunsil from being one of the better left tackles at the next level.”

I find your posts funny Adam.

You're right, it isn't arguable. Cooks is in an entirely different world when it comes to creating separation. Big reason why Cooks doubled up Landry's touchdowns in just the last 8 games while absolutely blowing him away in ypc. Landry has the luxury of having other receivers create a route umbrella for him, and it matches his skillset.

Landry isn't even used over the top because the dolphins know it isn't strength for him.

Did you even read my fricking post? Was AB the number one receiver his first 3 years in the league?

And sorry for derailing this thread. I am so glad we picked Rankins. Dude is going to ball out for us.

My point is, Cooks will never put up AB number. He's just not that type of player. He's a scrub.

Anyways, I hope Rankins ball out.

I mean, considering Cook's has already put out better numbers than AB in his first two seasons, it seems like you are talking pure nonsense. Can I use your crystal ball?

I hate the amount of crap Cooks gets.

He was a rookie in 2014.

The offense then lost its no.1 receiving target and he emerged last year. The next best receiving target was either a 35 year old Watson or an UDFA Snead.

Cooks opened those guys up. I know some people want to believe Snead is this amazing steal/find and Watson discovered the fountain of youth...neither happened.

Cooks was a beast.

Drew magically had one of his best seasons in a while as well..in fact minus 09,11,and 13 it was his best...considering his OG's were arguably the worst in the NFL I would say this gives Cooks even more cred as a NFL WR.

I don't think people get how well Brees played those last 4 games.

I hate drafting Saint players in fantasy and last year I broke my own rule.(good value)

I had both Cooks and Drew in fantasy...the championship I won after losing Keenan Allen to injury...was due to their chemistry.

Both were amazing. Both need help. After hopefully adding a pass rusher in round 2 we can go OG and WR in 3 and 4 and help those guys out.
