And be the fifth seed and a wild card spot? God that would suck. So they are 1.5 games back because of chip shot fg miss? That game was so big. Went from 1 seed to 5th seed and playing an extra game and trying to finish this tough final 3 game stretch. Meanwhile the dirty birds coast and sit out a game. Amazing swing

57 fricking feet is gonna be the difference between a #1 and #5 seed. The NFL needs to start seeding the playoffs according to W-L records alone. They can keep the 4 divisional qualifiers and 2 wildcard spots, but seed them off the records.

i see us losing one more game and still being the 5th seed. no worries because we will be playing the four seed and we should beat the shite out of them.

I don't mind being the 5th seed. If we are we play either the Ram, Seahawks, or 49's. We will be in the Conference Championship easily, we just have to get by Atlanta. 13-3 is definitely a possibility

Cry me a river. A missed FG didn't lose that game.

Cry me a river. Other teams get left out all the time, you'd be singing a different story if you were sitting anywhere else. We're in the playoffs, that should be good enough for you knowing our history.

Hartley's miss in overtime is haunting this team big time right now. From 1st seed to 5th seed.

Don't blame it on the chip shot. We had plenty of opportunities to put it out of reach whereby needing a FG to win wasn't needed. It's just magnified because it gave us the last shot to win it.

No a missed VERY EASY FG did in fact prevent them from winning. There is no debate to that. Could they have won it in other ways? Yes. But dont be s fricking moron. A missed FG FOR THE WIN did in fact prevent them from winning.

I don't give a damn who the teams involved are, you can't justify a 13-3 team being a #5 seed and an 8-8 team being a #4 seed.

Yeah, I remember you guys back in 2000 screaming...

"It's not right that the Saints get to play a home game and better record Eagles have to go on the road!"

Everyone was terribly upset in the unfairness of playing at home just because we won our division.

Giving up 200 yards rushing and turning the ball over lost us that game.

Do you REALLY want to count the games where STATS would have lost us a game that we won or vice versa?

The FACT is that the Saints, 100% garanteed win that game if that kick is made its not even a debate.

If the Saints gave up 96 yards rushing you cannot say that the Saints win that game with certainty. Thats just a GUESS.

I can say with certainty that if the Saints only gave up 96 yards rushing in that game that they would have won. We also would have won if we weren't -2 in turnovers. We also would have won if we could have gotten off the field on 3rd down.

And let's look at the other games that are keeping us out of first place right now: Arizona and Cleveland. Who are you blaming for those games THAT WE COMPLETELY BEAT OURSELVES IN?

Yea cause the Eagles going 11-5 on the road to play a 10-6 team and the Saints playing at home at 10-6 was just horrible..

Just as bad as a 13-3 Saints going on the road to play a likely 7-9 team

You don't make sweeping changes to "correct" an anomaly.

Not to mention that the Falcons were 1-1 at the time. If Hartley makes that field goal, the Falcons are 1-2 with no confidence. They could be 7-6 right now. Instead, Hartley misses and gives the birds an early season super bowl type game. Their confidence in the stratusphere and they haven't looked back. Look what that loss did to the Saints. They went 2-2 after that game.

This isnt an anomoly at all.

You dont recall New England just a couple of years ago missing playoffs and a losing team making it in. How many times have we seen 8-8 and 7-9 teams make the playoffs over better teams?

At the very least division winners should not be awarded automatic home games. Thats not a sweeping change. In 2000 Tampa would have been the away team and Philly would have been the home team.

A sweeping change would be if the fixed what happened to NE. But that would disolve the divisions.
