And we already have a speedster in Stills, so I dont see the need for a guy like Cooks or OBJ.
Stills is not a speedster. Give me Cooks all day dude is like TY Hilton mixed with Desean Jackson/Tavon Austin except more consistent. Homeroom threat every time he's on the field. Dude is flash.
Edit: forgot to add Steve Smith.

Stills combine - 6'0 194lbs, 4.38 40
Cooks - 5'10 189lbs 4.33.
And Stills led the NFL in YPC as a rookie... but sure hes not a speedster.... where do some of yall come up with this stuff?

more important shuttle and cone, but stills has no cone.
Stills: 4.35s shuttle
Cooks: 3.81s shuttle
Stills: 4.35s shuttle
Cooks: 3.81s shuttle

He doesn't play to his 40 time speed. Anyone who watches the saints can you see that. He's not a burner with pads on. He wasn't a burner in college either go look at desean Jackson's college highlights and stills college highlights and tell me if stills plays like a burner. Then go look at stills 2013 highlights and compare them to TY Hilton's and tell me if stills looks like a burner.

How you were used in college =/= how youre used in the NFL. Every system is different.
When Stills is on the field, hes the vertical route runner that stretches the field for us. Its evident that thats the way we are going to use him. Again, he led the NFL in YPC as a rookie. You dont do that unless youre going deep.
DJax and TY are also 2 of the best WRs in the NFL. Stills is, at best, our 3rd option in the passing game.
Cooks is def most likely going to be better than Stills. Im not saying that Cooks wont be good or better than Stills or anything like that. But saying Still isnt a deep threat / burner is just wrong. And I like Cooks as well. Wouldnt mind taking him at all.
But I just feel that we need a complete WR more than just a burner. Like Jordan Matthews. Colston lost a step and it hurt us a lot. Our offense works the middle of the field a lot more than most teams in the NFL do. Were an inside - out passing team. We love those 15yard seems, digs, posts, etc.
Our deep threats in recent years have been Stills, Morgan, Meachem, and Henderson. Since 2008, Henderson is the only 1 to have more than 80 targets in a single year, and it came in 2009. Most of the time, our deep threat guys finished around 5th on the team in targets. And were talking targets here, not catches. Meaning we dont look at those speedster type players that often. We use them to stretch the D and field, opening things up in the middle.
The guys we do look to often? Graham, Colston, Moore, Shockey, etc. Where do those guys do most of their work? Middle of the field on those medium distance routs like slants, posts, digs, corners, post corners, etc. And Brees is 35years old right now. And he never had a huge arm in NFL standards.

Meh... college catch rate isnt the best thing to look at when judging a player. College stats for that matter.
Not all guys are playing with NFL QBs or system. Some guys played horrible Ds, other played great ones. Some guys were on teams that were balanced and had multiple threats that D had to scheme against, while others were the only guy on the team that was a threat and teams were doubling them.

Any thoughts on Marquise Lee? Guess he doesn't make it to late first

He did shite like that all the time. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this guy is going to have a bigger impact than any other WR in the draft. Watch and see. He feels more than one need, he does returns, runs out of the backfield and is an awesome WR. We have got to get this guy!!
Cooks is a beast. Could have been a top 10 pick in other years. I wanted a big body threat at receiver, but having Cooks would be worth it. He'll also make it easier for Colston, Graham, and Stills.

Dude had a 20.0 apc. You're dumb.

I agree that Stills is a good vertical deep threat, but I don't see him as a guy who can take a short reception and bust it open for a big gain the way Obj and Cooks appear to be able to.
Posted on 3/19/14 at 9:02 pm to Melvin
I don't either. I said before we need someone with short area quickness to replace Sproles, but in the WR corps.

I love both Cooks and Matthews in this draft. If there is a non WR (Fuller, Moseley, Donald) that we can't pass up at 27, I wouldn't be shocked if we trade up into the top of the second round (possibly using next year's first) to get him. We did it with Ingram. It's a deep draft, and Matthews or Cooks at the top of the second are likely going to be better than someone you can get in in 2015 between 25-32, so why not? The reason I'd prefer to go WR is because you fricking KNOW that Carolina is going WR at 28. We may not draft the guy that they wanted, but it can't hurt to take a target off their board.
But yeah, Matthews seems to be underrated in mock drafts. I get why Watkins and Evans are clear cut top two WRs in a deep WR class, but I don't see why OBJ, Marquis Lee, Cooks, and Benjamin are considered to be better players than Matthews.

Cooks is that and he can stretch the field which is what we need. I want a big bodied receiver that could potentially be a number 1 but what we need right now is a receiver that can make defenses worry because he's a playmaker and a deep threat

You don't necessarily have to be 6'2+ to be a #1 WR. Steve Smith has been the guy for quite a while. Reggie Wayne is 6'0. Antonio Brown put up 1500 yards last season at 5'10. Garcon 1350 at 6'0. DJax 1330 at 5'10. Cooks can be a monster at 5'10.
