Complete & Updated Roster...2 days until the draft

90 players is the off-season roster max. We currently have 73 total players. Actually 74 total players, b/c Malcolm Jenkins is still on the roster until June 1st.
This is just my opinion on the current needs going into the draft. I haven't been following the draft as closely as I normally do, so I'm sure you won't agree with all of this...
Biggest Needs
-WR - Need a #2 with speed
-OT - If we get a LT...we can move Hurst to OG
-OG - Our 2 current starters are very questionable
-DT - 2 legit starters, but our backups are all question marks. No DT's under contract for 2023
-S - Both 2021 starters gone & Maye coming back from injury
Average Needs
-RB - Uncertainty of Kamara. 3rd, 4th, or 5th round
-QB - I don't really want a QB unless it's great value
-LB - I'd rather just sign Kwon, then LB isn't much of a need
-CB - Has to be great value, b/c our top 3 is legit imo
Lowest Needs
-DE - This position is basically already full imo. Don't overload
-TE - This position is basically already full imo. Don't overload. I'd use the 2023 off-season to address this position
-OC - I think we'll re-sign McCoy in 2023 & OC's are undervalued. I'd be ok with a 4th/5th rounder if the value is right
-FB - Prentice is decent, but I'd bring in another with our 6th rounder or udfa
-ST - Lutz, Gillikin, & Zach Wood are perfectly fine

Kwon can cover a lot better than most LB's i think but he misses too many tackles.
I don't know why that is considering his athletic ability to cover

Nicely put.

Peat can kick rocks for all I care.

I really want a legit OT to fall to us at #16, so we can stick Hurst at LG or RG.
Assuming the rookie LT ends up working out...we would only have 1 questionable position on the O-Line. Peat & Ruiz can compete & the 1 who sucks the least can start.

I did not realize this. Definitely makes a Jordan Davis pick more intriguing.

Defense looks strong except for safety (not counting CGJ). Funny how it went from a strength to a weakness in one year.

And to gmoney’s point, a pick like Davis could love one of our legit starters at DTs to a backup role which would only help bolster the rotation

What about that OL out of LSU few years ago? I know he's been with the Saints for the past 2 or 3 years. I do not see his name on the roster list.
Can't think of his name but I'm sure one of youse guys knows.

Will Clapp. He's not on any roster right now. He played here last year & his contract expired.
I think he ends up on another team this year. Probably practice squad unless there are some injuries on the interior O-Line.

Great write up GMoney - people are sleeping on DT but it’s a need.

Definitely. I didn't realize until a couple of hours ago at how big of a need it was. I looked at all their expiring contracts & realized that this position could get very bad, very fast.
I'd put DT as the 3rd biggest need behind OT & WR.

Agreed. The key to this draft is just to pass on a QB. This is NOT the year.

And with the depth at WR in this draft, I can easily see OT/DT in the first.
Love the way you laid out the info in the OP, G. Thanks

Great job putting this together. I agree with 90%+ of your breakdown. The only thing I’d push back on is being set at TE. Not that drafting one is the answer because they take so long to develop but I wish we could get our hands on a solid one before the start of the season. Time for Trautman to live up to the hype.

Right after the 2021 season was over.
That was his step father's last name. He changed it to that to honor his step father. Deonte said that he raised him, & he feels like that is his father.

I really don’t see TE as being set.

Yea, TE seems to be position that people disagree with the most.

It's not a bad position group it's just filled top to bottom with ok.

Agreed, unless one slides and becomes great value. I'm pretty set with Winston and Dalton.

Something that nobody has mentioned...if we have 74 players & 7 draft picks, then that leaves room for only 9 udfa's. Seems a little low.
