Comp picks are not guaranteed

Just because CGJ would have walked at the end of the season doesn’t mean we would have gotten comp picks. That would only be the case if the Saints didn’t sign any decent free agents.
Losing a player in Free Agency does not guarantee comp picks. For some reason people aren’t understanding this. We traded him for much less than his value but to say we should have kept him for the comp pick just isn’t true since there is no guarantee of a comp pick.

Yeah, comp picks are a result of drafting extremely well. It sucks losing CGJ but the saints have drafted so well it put them in this position. It’s going to continue to happen if they continue to draft well. At the end of the day, Loomis can only manipulate the cap so much. Our secondary is so deep that this wasn’t high on the list of things to manipulate the cap for.

So a 4th in 2024 is better than a 5th in 2023 and 6th in 2024? I disagree

I think I'd rather make CJJ inactive and wait to see if someone gets desperate, if not hey we lost out on some crappy late round picks

He wasn't practicing and was making a point to become a distraction. Name me any example where a player like that became an asset

No idea honestly. I don’t like the return but I do completely understand trading him. If it was as bad as the reports you can’t keep him. Especially since the Saints have prided themselves on their culture.

It’s highly unlikely that the compensation would be a 3rd or 4th.
