Coach Moore was on the Rich Eisen Show today

Looked around the room when they were on the clock and immediately knew Tyson was the pick. Valued his film
Excited to have Etienne back home. Rich asked if the plan was to get him because they knew Love wouldn’t be there. He said
Loves Christen Miller’s energy, runstopping and pressure
Bryce lance was a surprise to still be on the board
He thought Tyler’s poise in the Rams game and hanging in there was one of the first times they knew they got it right picking him (and training camp/scout team). And also the first Carolina game the following week was a turning point for the program
It’s fun to build a program around a QB based on their preferences and that comes from spending time together.
Basic canned “process” answer about Cam/AK

Moore is to “process” as Sean was to “well look”

Loomis did an interview yesterday talking about Cam and AK.
He basically said they hope to have Cam back. Both sides want it but it has to make sense. And this was after the FA signing of Jennings.
On AK it's still the same basic waiting to see what happens kind of response, and Loomis specifically said they are private conversations he doesn't want to get into. And I know people will disagree, but as soon as he said private conversations that practically confirmed retirement is being considered to me. Of course he is going to workout and be ready in case he does play, and he could be planning to play, but we have heard guys before say they plan to play while also considering retirement, and that has gone both ways.

nah, they sat Alvin down and gave him the same speech they gave Honey Badger: "Hey bud, we would love to have you back in some capacity, but we need you to take a substantial pay cut!"
He is now in the process of trying to decide if he wants to play for like 8 million less.

He cannot take a pay cut. His base salary was already converted to the minimum. Not even Nick can answer the question of where the pay cut is coming from if that's what this is about, because there is nothing else to cut.
Here is his contract details:
AK Contract
In fact if you look at the numbers, his guaranteed salary is higher than his base salary, which is why the numbers don't add up using just his base and signing bonus (which cannot be cut, as signing bonuses are guaranteed) and looking at his cap number. Instead, his guaranteed salary number is being used instead of the base salary.
There is literally nothing here that can be cut.

Sounds like GM speak for AK is planning to retire, but we're not really talking about it so he can retire right before training camp, and I can defer some of his cap hit into 2027 in case we decide to make a move for some additional players. Also, we'll plan to recover some of the bonus money already paid to him since he's retiring, but we will just overpay him for a post-retirement PR deal, so those funds hit our advertising dollars instead of the cap.

On Cam at least, Mickey was on some radio show and he sounded happy when talking about bringing him back, said he has been a pillar here basically, etc.
The same show asked him about AK and it was a very different answer. Nick had both audios on his Wednesday podcast
Leads me to believe Cam is back and AK likely cut/traded as of now

Being that he only saves $376k if cut post June 1st I have an extremely hard time believing that will be the case.
If he sticks to what he said and will retire if traded, I have a hard time believing that will be the case (though it would save $3 mil).
He cannot take a pay cut per the numbers above as there is literally nothing to cut, so I have an extremely hard time believing that is the case.
Even Nick finally did a SLIGHT relenting on saying maybe he is considering retiring in the video you are referring to, though still thinks it's a pay cut (again, from where?).

yes this is implied as we should all know by now

if he plays this season, the non-guaranteed money of $10.15 million will get counted against our salary cap. it isn't just a matter of saving $376k on june 2.

they could renegotiate the deal to cut the non-guaranteed money, could they not?

see above. he also said he talked to him and he wants to play this year, he's training as if he's going to play, etc.

Now it might be future money, so maybe next year we'd take less of a hit on his dead money, but I cannot see where an actual pay cut with him playing comes from.

I don't know if that 10.15mm figure is just not showing up on calculators or what, but that option bonus they did made it $3 million gtd this year and then $10.15 million non-guaranteed.
that should only count as it is earned throughout the season (as he plays the games)
