My advice: don't be fooled.
Further proof yo won't acknowledge any improvement from his first years in the league. I'm not going to bother replying to you anymore regarding this.

Never roll tide, but Ingram is a good back. Glad he's in NOLA

But we have had either the #1 or #2 offense 5 times out of his 6 year career. And the fricker still manages to flash then disappear in every single one. That's not an anomaly. That's a trend. Why can't y'all see?
It is as inconsistent as your OL and playcalling. Early on you could blame the D as well, but still you want to blame him for inconsistencies of reaching an arbitrary number (100 yards) when YPC is a vastly superior indicator.
From what you're saying, you would prefer 26 carry, 102 yards (3.9YPC) because it reaches that number than these other games of Ingram's.
12 carries vs Oakland, yet averaged 4.8 YPC. Who's fault?
15 carries vs ATL, yet averaged 5.1 YPC. Who's fault?
11 carries vs Denver, yet averaged 4.5 YPC. Who's fault?
We are tied for 10th most in attempts a game and average 10th most in YPC. Yet Ingram only averages 46.9% of the team's carries
On the other hand, the top 5 rushing attempts right now:
Elliott takes 66.9% of his team's rushing attempts
Gordon takes 81.8% of his team's rushing attempts
Murray takes 64.3% of his team's rushing attempts
Blount takes 66.5% of his team's rushing attempts
Miller takes 67.8% of his team's rushing attempts
----
Elliott has 5 100 yard games
Gordon has 3 100 yard games
Murray has 5 100 yard games
Blount has 4 100 yard games
Miller has 3 100 yard games

Do you actually watch the games?
I watched Ingram run really well against good defense a handful of times.
I've watched him get tackled by one hand.
I've watched him spin and juke for no-gain.
I've watched him get tackled for a loss by a CB on crucial 3rd and 4th downs.
I've watched him get caught from behind by defensive linemen on a screen.
I've watched him struggle for yards with no progress only to get stood up, hit hard and fumble the ball.
I've watched him bounce it outside for a loss or no gain.
I've watched him run through open lanes only to run into the back of a down field lineman.
I have watched him break out a nice run with his eyes on the endzone only to lose his balance and fall.
I've watched him break off a 20 yarder, only to see him call for someone else to replace him for the next play.
I've watched him watched him get hammered in one-on-one goal line lanes.
I've seen him fumble that ball with no one touching him.
Frankly, I've seen enough.

Why do you think Payton chooses not to use a 5.3 ypc "workhorse"?
It's because he is not. Ingram is best when our gameplan is not centered around him like SP tried to shoe-horn him on every 1st or 2nd down early on in his career for little or no gain. He can't be relied on to produce 3rd and short like Deuce could do. He has to be used sparingly to be effective, not that Payton doesn't want to use him.
Do you remember that playoff win against Philadelphia where Deuce literally ran out the clock on one drive with over 6 minutes left to go in the game? That's a real RB.

We are stocked top to bottom with middle of the road backs and thats good.
But I want to get better at the position if we can. I want a RB with one or both of breakaway speed and some wiggle. Perhaps a gem later in the draft the next couple of years. Or a lucky Joe Horn type of pick up.

Personally, I think Dalvin Cook would be a perfect back for Payton's system.
He has some Marshall Faulk-ish qualites. (There I go again, comparing a prospect to a HOFer)

Maybe its been the fact we have had a HOF QB who converts 71% of his passes and gets 1st downs like no tomorrow.
Or the fact that Since 2006, this offense has had a RB rush >200 twice.
Deuce in 2006 (244 carries, 1057 yards, 4.3 YPC, 10 TDs; 30 receptions, 198 yards; 1FumL)
Ingram in 2014 (226 carries, 964 yards, 4.3 YPC, 9 TDs; 29 receptions, 145 yards; 1FumL)
And look what happened subsequently after to our lovely 'work horse'. Out of the league after 2008.

I think we should trade him. Seems every time someone suggests it he has 80 yard touchdown runs and averages over 10 yards a carry.
So I would like to trade Ingram for the rest of this season, all next season, and the season after that unsuccessfully.

That's a nice fall back. Not a gameplan.
Payton would prefer to have a ground game that produce more than 2000 yards. He is more effective with a balanced offense.
He did it in 2006 where they got to the NFCC.
He did it in 2009 where they won the Super Bowl.
He did it in 2011 where those SF bastards stole our consecutive Super Bowl.
He went out of his way and traded back into the first round to get a workhorse that shall not be named, and ended up with an ever-changing RBC and having to throw it to win.

I don't recall anybody saying on here that Ingram compares to Jim Brown or Walter Payton. I think the reason he has kept his starting position here is because he is an above average blocker, has good hands
has at least average abilities as a starting running back and has for the most part stayed healthy. He is currently ranked 12th in total yds. with 5.3 ypc.
By the way the Saints are currently ranked 8th in rushing. Also Ingram just came off of a 146 yd. performance. I think I'll leave the offensive decision making to the guy who has year in year out fielded the best offense in the NFL. Until someone comes along and takes his job. I don't have a problem with him. He will always be a Gump but he is also a Saint.

Cook is the type any team would want. Gone in the 1st rnd though.

I dont roll tide, but people hating ingram on here are just retards.
Ingram is a good running back.
He just needs to stay healthy.

I sure has don't roll tide and never will. I've always like Ingram glad we finally have a line that can run block decent to give all our backs a shot.
