My point is that his production is not pretty solid. I seriously hope his play improves and he balls out this year. But if you’re counting on Chase Young to be “the guy” who makes a defensive impact, you will end up like the 2024 Saints defense.

I think you are discounting a lot of advanced defensive statistics just cause the sack production lacked.

Both Granderson and Chase were top 10 in the NFL in qb hurries

Both are also top 18 in QB pressures.

BOth are also tied top 17ish among others of each with 3 batted passes.along with cam jordan.

Breese could be betterish. We added Godchaux. Hope our interior front line can step up and help our ends produce more "sack" production along with the coaching and strategic aspect of it all.

Spot on. Young's production with the Saints matches up with the guys around the league making the same or similar annual salary.

Bryce Huff $17.03mm/year 13 tackles 2.5 sacks 4 QB hits
Alex Highsmith $17.0mm/year 45 tackles 6 sacks 13 QB hits
Chase Young $17mm/year 31 tackles 5.5 sacks 21 QB hits
Dayo Odeyingbo $16mm/year 31 tackles 3 sacks 17 QB hits

He’s got the same or less sacks than Darell Taylor and A.J. Epenesa who were drafted late 2nd round of the same draft.

Neither of those missed nearly 2 years with a torn ACL
