While I agree the Raiders are a poorly run organization, they traded Mack for 2 firsts and Cooper for 1. That’s not the same as letting them walk

This.

And Cooper went from earning $3mill a year to $14mill($20mill the following 2 years). Take away the signing bonus and the Cowboys paid him more his first year than he made with the Raiders combined.

People on this board have jello pudding between the ears.

To clarify, I do not put Carr in the stratosphere of any of the above QBs; just pointing out teams let capable QBs go for various reasons

Context matters, Brees and Manning had serious potential career threatening injuries and their teams had access to elite prospects in Rivers and Luck. The decision to leave NE was all Brady’s. He did not sign an extension so he could go else where.

Carr was benched for Jarret Stidham so not the same situation by a long shot

I think the saints would be happy with just having Carr's production 4 of the last 5 years. Obviously last year is concerning, but the saints feel he's worth the risk, and I agree

but history has shown he's low reward with a high risk when considering how much we're having to pay him.

$35 million a year for this little of improvement?

Patriots didn't offer deal brady wanted, so they did let him walk

And they didn't do much with those picks.
Coopers pick turned into Johnathan Abrams
Macks turned into Damon Arnette and Jacobs.

Carr also had a no-trade clause in his contract.

Your posts are so good that it’s almost 28-3 like the lead the falcons blew.

According to NBC Sports Boston: "...a tangible effort by the Patriots to keep Tom Brady in New England never happened. No negotiation.

"Just the intimation that it was on Brady to say what he wanted. For Brady, that stance spoke volumes."

Brady is said to have felt unwanted by the side, which solidified his decision to leave the team.

That’s besides the point I already agreed they were a poorly run organization, Mack held out, they got 2 first round picks, that’s fair trade.

So what I've gathered from your post:

Patriots asked Brady what he wanted for his next contract.
Brady didn't respond and then left the team.

You think maybe....just maybe....Brady wanted to leave? The Patriots roster was in shambles when he left. I don't blame him at all for that.

The other point is, they had no other choice but to let him walk. No trade clause is pretty set in stone. I love how he refused to help them out by agreeing to a trade.

He also restructured his contract the year before to allow him to be a free agent. He was 42 and wanted a “longer term deal” whatever that means. He played there for 20 years and was also upset they didn’t draft or bring in better weapons for him. It is not in any way a situation comparable the the Raiders letting 31 yo Carr walk after benching him for Stidham

the fascination of wanting to compare situations that are entirely different on this board just blows me away.

Well shite we fricked up, we all know this projections are never wrong. But going by what you posted, our super bowl odds doubled.

Guess I can shift those 3 hours on Sunday from football to yard projects

You can jack-off with both hands but at the end of the day you're still just sitting at home by yourself.

Makes a broad generalization to imply the QB the Saints signed sucks then gets triggered when someone counters with an example of why it means nothing. He then goes on to try to dismiss the reply by implying it is faulty because it is a broad generalization.

And? They also didn’t pick up the 5th year option on the NFL’s leading rusher last year. They clearly don’t make good choices.

They are all QBs so they think it’s related but it’s also a strawman. No one is arguing no one can win with a free agent QB. The question is if Carr is worth the cap figure and will he be enough of an improvement

Correct. We're paying him close to 3 times what we would likely pay Dalton. I'm not expecting him to be 3 times the quarterback but he absolutely needs to be more than marginally better to be worth how much salary he's taking up.

That money could go to other positions.
