What will we do with the 2 mil saved from the trade?

1. Sign another free agent.
2. Nothing.
3. Pay hit men to rough up Goodell.
4. Two chicks at the same time.

(more than one answer may be right)

Great minds haha . Just started one a second after, but also discusses whether or not we cut anyone else to free up more space and go after a more proven OT.

LINK

And yes I think we go after another FA. Hopefully a tackle

There are some vets out there who still need teams. Can probably swing one of them on the cheap.

Oh and my official answer is 1 and 4. Don't want to spend money on arse hat Goodell.

Nope the rookies aren't built in. But their base salary is much smaller under the new cba

Vacarro is the only one whose salary should be in the top 51. The others shouldn't be a factor. At least not past the 3rd rounders if not.

Which isn't really "nothing" since the new CBA allows them to carry it over to next year (when they'll need to extend/franchise Graham). My still hopeful/not that much of a long shot situation is cutting Strief (without digging too deep, appears to save a smidge over $2m) and spending that + half of what we saved trading Ivory on signing Winston, giving us a massive upgrade at RT. We should then be able to sign Strief back at the vet minimum (I don't see him having a big market).

Don't need it for draft picks. Looking at the top 51, Vaccaro is going to cost $1 mil(or $1.5) to the cap, and each 3rd rounder about $50,000. We had about $2 mil(or $2.5) before the Ivory trade, correct?

I remember we came out to having about $1 mil left after accounting for draft picks.

The $2 mil from Ivory will likely be rolled over because our cap situation next year will also be brutal. But if it is used this year it will likely be on a vet at a spot we feel we have a hole still. And that might not be until just before the regular season, maybe even after week 1.

Edit:
And I agree RT is a good spot to target, especially if we cut Strief giving us even more room. I think it's unlikely he'd get resigned as we have 2 young backups already. They have good vets out there at RT and that spot isn't overly expensive like LT.

Another good target is a vet OLB, or a WR if the youngsters aren't coming along.

I was really hoping that we'd sign Devery, but I'm really glad that they have no interest in signing Shanle!

I think there's a small outside shot if the young guys aren't doing well and he comes at vet minimum. He'd likely be the best FA option we could afford since he'd be cheap and familiar.

I remember reading it's actually less than his $2 mil tender. We saved about $1.5 mil (his tender - the new lowest 51st paid player's player's salary)

Good call. Yeah the next guy up was right about $500,000ish.

Still a pretty good savings from a 4th string RB and got a hopefully dominate run stuffing NT(as a role player) out of the deal.
