There needs to be clear clarification if Saints games are included so I jump off the bridge now.

Whatever happens with the Saints and every other team will be a NFL decision. That's why she didn't mention them initially like she did with the festivals.

She's a democrat.

Mayor.

Of a major Us city.

Take a look at cites with democrat mayors across the USA.

I'm sure you'll see the problem.

I understand the logistics of putting on an NFL game, but there is no way that anyone can make that decision now. There is enough time for things to get better, and time for things to get worse. Bottom line is that is plenty of time to make that decision.....no need to do it now.

I can promise that the ncaa waits for the NFL to make its final decision....and they mirror each other. Gonna be all or nothing, boys......

You'll notice she says "should". Was just her opinion and she doesn't have any idea how it's going to play out.

Saints “preparing to play” this year, declare it “too important for our city”

Posted by Darin Gantt on April 15, 2020, 6:21 AM EDT NBCsports
quote:

New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell said yesterday that large music festivals in her city should be put on hold until 2021, and when asked about how that pertains to professional football, she replied: “I don’t think anyone has a clue right now.”

quote:

The Saints may not either, but they at least want to send a signal that projects confidence.

Saints senior vice president of communications Greg Bensel issued a statement that had a more positive message.

quote:

“We are preparing to play and we are being very proactive in working with healthcare professionals, our medical staff and both the NBA and NFL,” the statement said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

“In addition, we are in constant contact with local and state government. When we return this season, our highest priority will be health and safety of our fans, staff, players and coaches.

It is what we need to do and are doing relative to planning to play and we will be ready.

quote:

“And considering the economic and cultural significance of the Saints, we are working to do everything in our power to make it work.
It’s too important for our city.”

Of course, the Saints can’t be sure of what might happen any more than the mayor of New Orleans at the moment.

But there’s currently a push from back-to-sports proponents (including President Donald Trump).

quote:

The NFL schedule is set to be released in early May, which will be the next indication of what the league is thinking about a return to play in whatever fashion, whether it includes large gatherings of fans or not.

If the NFL decides to play the season, she will have no choice but to allow it. It would be career suicide and she'd have a revolt on her hands if she were the only governor holding out. Not to mention potentially losing the organization altogether - why would any organization choose to stay here and sacrifice revenue when they could just go somewhere else?

If she is cancelling these events how can the Saints be allowed to pack a stadium of over 70,000 people? This is the same scenario as the churches holding services. Unless they can figure another way.. IMO if the NFL games go on it will be in front of no fans. Players and all staff and employees will be tested on a regular basis. The logistics of this whole thing has got to have all the T's crossed and I's dotted..

If the NFL season starts, she doesnt have the power to stop them from playing games in the dome.

So she has the authority to cancel every major event in her jurisdiction except the NFL? She either has the police power or she doesn't.

Power as in she will be overruled. And come up with an excuse as to why the Saints will be able to play.

Well the hard rock, Mardi Gras, tax evasion, or blaming trump for not cancelling the big events in the spring didn’t do it. I suppose it’s fitting that football would lead to her demise.

Why do Democrats refuse to let people decide whether they want to risk their health? We don't need to be forced to stay at home.

The curve is flattened and she is still extending these communist rules.
