The Bucs backup plan if they fail?
UPDATE: Brady says he is NOT returning to the Pats, and the Chargers and Bucs each have offered him 30M/Y contracts. Come on Bucs!!!

NFL Network's Michael Giardi reports the Bucs have made their Tom Brady intentions "loud and clear."
This is the growing chorus from all corners of the media world. The Bucs have put out an APB that they want the Patriots' franchise player. Meanwhile, there has been radio silence from New England. ESPN's Chris Mortensen has reported that the Chargers are interested and hinted at the possibility of potential mystery teams.

Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports free agent Teddy Bridgewater could be the Bucs' back-up plan if they miss out on free agent Tom Brady.
Bridgewater's market is looking hotter than Jameis Winston's at the moment, as he has also been connected to the Bears. What appears certain is that the Saints have to let him walk as they finalize re-signing Drew Brees and tender RFA Taysom Hill at the first-round level. Conservative Bridgewater would be a poor on-paper fit with coach Bruce Arians' hyper-aggressive down-field mindset.

Tom Brady announced via Instagram that he won't return to the Patriots next season.
"I don’t know what my football future holds but it is time for me to open a new stage for my life and career," Brady announced on his social media. The full statement can be viewed in the link below. It's truly a monumental occasion as the 42-year-old's decision will not only put him in unknown territory for the first time in his illustrious 20-year career, but it will ultimately cause several other quarterback dominos to seemingly fall in the next 24 hours. The Chargers and Buccaneers both reportedly made offers of $30-plus million annually, likely pinning the vet in one of those two destinations in the near future.

I love it! I am really hoping he signs. This will be a historic season for us to watch. I've always been one to want to play the best, and this allows us to do that with our best and watch two legends duke it out one last time.
Make it happen Loomis!
...oh wait

Brady to the Bucs would sure fit the image of aging washed up vet finishing career at subpar destination.

Does Arians know for sure that Brady can still stretch the field with deep throws? He's ran a dink and dunk offense the past 3-4 years.

don't think either guy fits what arians likes to do honestly. teddy doesn't have the arm for that offense and he'd be better in chicago

TB12 = GOAT NFL QB, no question
When (not if) the Grim Reaper catches up to his career, it would be lovely if it were right at the beginning of him as a Buccaneer.
Fingers crossed.

Would love to see Tommy Goat face off against Brees a few more times - hoping it happens

Thank you baby Jesus!
Never thought I would see the day the dynasty was over. Got so damn tired of Pats 24-7. Cannot imagine the euphoria on the jets fins and bills boards right now.
Miami seems the place the Brady clan would embrace for a couple of years but don't care where he goes tbh.

Patriots are still probably the best team in that division and still a contender in the AFC. IMO, Brady needed the Pats more than the Pats needed Brady.

As much as I'd like to see this, I really don't like Brady's options at this point. Tampa Bay seems a lot like Namath to the Chargers or Jordan with the Wizards.
If he had wound up in Dallas or Chicago or San Francisco that would have been badass and wouldn't have risked hurting Brady's legacy.
I guess the X-factor would be his potential access to Manchester United through the Glazers.

It's kind of crazy to me.
If he ends up with a team then goes 7-9 twice and retires, while the pats continue to roll, that certainly would impact his legacy long term.
OTOH, he could also do the exact opposite and elevate a mediocre team.

The Falcons would probably on suicide watch if this happens. As if it wasn't enough for them to have to go against Brees twice a year, now they're looking at also having to deal with Tom Brady lol. On top of that, Carolina is probably going to end up with an efficient passer in Teddy Bridgewater.
