Okay, Uncle Rico
I’m not saying I threw it good then or now.
The point I was trying to make is he’s not a broken down old man. He has access to the best therapy and treatments. It’s not unheard of him to be able to compete at an elite level at his age.

Brees always seemed to start the season OK then after a couple NFL sized sacks he broke internal bones and was on the injured list every single day

Drew needs to shut his mouth and let Jamies have his time.
No one should be calling for Drew we all saw the last few years.
These guys like Drew need the energy from other people to survive. Just cannot be out the limelight.

Brees passer rating and QBR last 3 years...
2018: 115.7, 79.2
2019: 116.3, 73.3
2020: 106.4, 68.3
In 2020, he was bad beat up, and MT was never fully healthy.
If you don't want him back, that's fine, but blaming it on his performance is moronic.

Thankfully, this ship has sailed and Payton is no longer here to make it happen.
Agree here, but this is a little much

He cannot throw over 15 yds
I'm 42 and never played QB in my life, but I can still throw the ball ~30 yards. So, I am sure a guy that trained his entire life for the position can make 25-35 yard passes (assuming 20-30 yards downfield, then another 15 to sideline) with a little zip & accuracy. As another poster pointed out, Drew's ability to make those throws when fully healthy was never the issue. It's after a few weeks of getting knocked around and the body taking longer to heal where it becomes an issue.

played quarterback in high school and I can throw a football further and harder now than I could back then and I’m in my late 30’s.
ETA: frick I should’ve read one more post.

Brees as backup in case Winston gets hurt or sucks after 2 weeks, sure.

You clearly have missed the offseason, we signed and drafted recievers not running backs. We could sign him to take a knee when we are running the clock out. He proved his last year that he is good at that

Why don't you look at playoff qbr. Thats like 97 for his career.

The reason the Saints let the WR corps degrade is because Brees could not utilize the talent of good receivers down the field. When the offense runs on short timing routes, you do not need above average receivers who can run routes, get open and catch the ball downfield.
Why pay for a Ferrari when a hyundai can get you the same 5 yards off the line?
