Funny but I'm 180 from where your at with Mingo. I love his speed and ability to bend to get to the QBfrom the edge.
It was his ability to shed a lineman once engaged and coverage that i thought he could improve on.
I hope he is there at 15.
Would be happy with Mingo for sure, but I feel better about Jordan. I just think he will be the better player. All remains to be seen though.
Philip Lutzenkirchen late would be sick. He is excellent as a blocker, and a good all around player. Payton could do some interesting things with he and Graham in some double tight sets.

I agree, I think I prefer Jordan more at this point. I have a feeling they'll both be great players and both to have close to double digit sacks or at least double digit at minimal. I'm just hoping one becomes a von miller, aldon smith, clay matthews type player

Jefferson in the later rounds would be awesome, I remember seeing him around the ball a lot in his days at OU

PL could be a immediate younger and cheaper replacement for David Thomas
Big fan of Lutz
I'd be glad if we got him.
Dave Thomas has been released.

meat:
1- can't see reaching that far at #1 for QB. See who they sign and then this will be confirmed
2- Lotulelei is surely Top 5 worthy but see a pass rusher much more a Jax need (2o team sacks)
5- Ansah could jump but 5 seems too far IMO
9- I'm not seeing Werner as a 3-4 guy at all
14- minor quibble that I think value & need at DT for Carolina is much better
otherwise right on

Unless they pick up a QB in FA then I still say they reach big time and take Geno.

I'm very strong that they will pickup someone. If not, they could get one at #34 or trade up from #34. Kinda like LT here. I can't imagine heading to the draft with only Charles Brown on the roster as the only OT that has any LT reps.
New Chiefs GM John Dorsey is adamant about taking the best available player regardless of position at No. 1 overall this year.
"I know of no other philosophy," added Dorsey. "You spent all those months as a group staying true to your board, and all of a sudden you have to jump a player because of positional needs? I don't think you do that. We have proven you don't do that." While the franchise's biggest need is a starting QB, NFL.com's Gil Brandt doesn't rank a single quarterback in the top-25 prospects this season.

That draft would be fricking awesome, that's why I think it might be a tad aggressive (pipe dream)
I would take it as is right now even though I worry a little about Geathers (I still have Sullivan nightmares)

Still will be absolutely bummed with Mingo. I just don't trust his pass rushing abilities against NFL linemen. I really want to be wrong but I hope we're not the ones finding out.
Mingo is going to get absolutely swallowed up by NFL OTs. It will be hard to watch. I want zero part of him in Black and Gold.
Posted on 2/20/13 at 1:51 pm to Shankopotomus
3rd Rd 4 year deals for less than $3million are a lot less risky than $33million ones to fatasses like Sedrick Ellis or Sullivan.
Posted on 2/20/13 at 1:53 pm to blueslover
agreed.
it is probably just the fact that he is fat and plays for Georgia...

Oh Blues, don't tease us. This would be about as great a draft as we could possibly have.

What makes you say that? He doesn't project as a 43 DE for a reason. He'll be standing up in more space than he would be hand in the dirt. I know its cool to hate on the LSU players who come out for the draft, but he fits the mold of a Aldon Smith or Von Miller pretty perfectly.

Just as many say the same thing about Jordan. I defer to the Saints staff in who they choose or don't choose. It may be more art and luck to drafting than skill and science. Aldon Smith and Bruce Irvin are the latest examples of players that were reached for that panned out as pass rushers. It is a highly valued commodity in the ever increasing pass happy NFL.
