I actually lean more to us taking a 1st or 2nd round(trade up) TE after getting Watson. The mentor is strong in this one.
Fleener Watson Gogurt would be a strong unit.

Let’s all just be honest, we’re winning a fricking super bowl this year.

Curious to see if this is vet minimum or somewhere in the $2-3 mil range.

I think that's a good probable range. I'm guessing vet minimum to around 2 mil. I'd be surprised if it were above 2.5 mil.

Hopefully the FO pulls some absurd value out of their arse & signs him for vet minimum.

Yeah he was pretty good last year. I get it. I just don't know where he fits. Who are you gonna cut? Or are you gonna carry 4 TEs? Because you're probably only getting 1 year from Watson.

Getting 1 year from Watson is irrelevant. Technically we're getting 1 year from Watson, Fleener, Hill, & Hooman.

Watson signed a 1 year deal
Hill is on the last year of his contract
Hooman is on the last year of his contract
Fleener will be cut next year if he isn't cut this year.

I'm assuming we draft a TE (if the value is there) & keep 2 of our current TE's. I'd be surprised if Watson isn't 1 of the 2 that we keep.

I don't think the FO will reach for a TE, so I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't draft one at all. I wouldn't panic if we didn't either. In this scenario...chances are we would sign a top tier TE in free agency & also draft one in 2019. We have plenty of viable options.

As far as Hill goes...I'm not saying we should or shouldn't keep him. Just keep in mind that CSP seems to have a Cadet-level man crush on him. He's the easily best ST player of all the TE's. He's also easily the best blocker of all the TE's while lining up as a WR (I think Hill & Hooman were about equal at blocking when lined up next to the OT, but Hill blows Hooman out of the water when blocking on the perimeter). Hill was very instrumental in a lot of Kamara's big plays in the passing game. He's great for WR screens as well.

Not trying to be a dick, I would just like to see Christians say nice things about non-Christians once in a while or give credit to a good person without qualifiers like what religion they practice.

Great Christian man. Need more like him in the locker room.

Need more Ben Watsons in the world. He seems like he's smart, kind, thoughtful, hard working guy who is also a great father. The fact that he's athletic enough to play in the NFL is secondary to his value as a human. I wish he was my next door beighbor. What's not to like about this guy?

Will there be any good TE’s at pick 32 in the 2009 draft?

I think this was a character/locker room signing as much as a player signing.

We're going for it all next year and you need guys like this to keep the locker room together on championship teams. Vilma was big in 2009 in that role (and was actually a good player).

Probably so. Late 1st/early 2nd is usually where the value at TE is in almost every draft.

Even an elite TE makes it all the way to the 20's in recent drafts. Only a can't miss TE will probably go before the 20's. The TE position has become devalued in the draft over the last few years. Kind of like ILB (you can get a legit ILB in the middle of the 2nd round of almost every draft) & RB (Dalvin Cook & Mixon in the 2nd, Kamara & Kareem Hunt in the 3rd, Tarik Cohen in the 4th, Aaron Jones in the 5th, & Elijah McGuire in the 6th). This is why I think we probably draft a RB this year somewhere in rounds 4-6. You get absurd value at RB in the mid-late rounds.
