Why would you not want a gaurd? LB and WR are great but none of this works if you can’t protect Drew. I’d be thrilled if they found an OL they loved in the first to replace Peat but they have to fit the bill. Our guards need to be agile, understand zone concepts and be able to kick out and pull on runs so a big 350 lb road grader type is not going to work. This is why they like Cameron Tom so much that he very well may get his chance at LG. Kevin Dotson from ULL would be a perfect choice in the 3rd round if he lasts that long. He’d be a day one starter and allow you to cut Easton and save $4 million against the cap. Another option would be moving McCoy to LG and put Tom at C where his true position is but I think McCoy cemented himself at C last year.

This year's draft is DEEP at WR, we can address in the 3rd.

I'd prefer we treat WR2 as a priority and not "we'll find somebody, I'm sure".

I think we go LB or WR. If multiple options are still there maybe a trade back and still get their guy.

I’d prefer Queen too. I get Stephone Anthony vibes from Murray.

Zack Baun may be worth a look there. I think he’s going to sneak up draft boards. He can rush and cover

Big LSU homer here but I'm really not sure why all of this big hype on Queen . I know he's fast and played a hell of a post season.

Because Queen is already really good and has room to become a special player

LBs who can play the run sideline to sideline and hold their own in coverage are huge for defenses

With the exception of Sheldon Rankins, there has not been a single draft pick that I felt like I was confident we would make. More often than not, the guy is completely off my radar. The saints do a good job of keeping it close to the book in that regard

LB and WR are definitely the two biggest needs.

I really wonder what the plan is for the 2nd and 3rd waves of FA.

Think interior OL is equally as big of a need. the Vikings literally said they saw it as a weak spot on tape and wanted to exploit it, and they did. Don't see how we enter next year status quo, especially at LG

Might be a little early
Just watched all his snaps vs lsu and he is quick to the ball and a sure tackler.

People who talked to the staff said LSU was scheming to go away from Murray as he was the only person on defense that had any concern about.

Same here. Queen was good not great during the year. He was amazing during the championship game. That kind of gives me concern about effort/ability to keep that up throughout the season.

Why does this apply to Queen and not Murray? Both are athletic and Murray’s stats dwarf Queen’s.

Lets be real, the saints never pick any LSU players in the early rounds anyways.

I think after taking Stephon Anthony with a 1st round pick that the Saints are fun shy about spending that high of a pick on the position when they already have a star in Davis and 2 very solid starting caliber LB in Anzalone and Alonso. Yes they have injury histories but I look for the team to find a veteran LB for a cheap deal as insurance so they know exactly what they are getting in the player. The Saints stay true to their board and will take the player they have rated beat no matter the position in the draft but I bet they would thrilled if an OL they love was there at 24. If your OL and DL is strong it makes everyone else better but if they are bad the best WR in the world won’t make a damn bit of difference.

Oh so now it’s “in the early rounds”. I see the goalposts are being moved for this idiotic bullshite narrative.

I’ve wanted Queen on this team for a while but I’d argue LG and WR are the two biggest. Peat was average, borderline bad when he’s injured and Easton was ok. If Wirfs falls, which I doubt, I’d love him, then a WR in the third. I could also see us sign a backup OT since Peat is gone. We need a swing guy. I think that’s our next move. A backup OT.

Plus I think Queen will be gone and so will Simmons. I think our two picks are WR and OL.

At 24 if we go OL it would need to be a tackle and maybe we play them guard. There isn't a guard worth the 24th pick. Maybe could go Jones or Cleveland. It seems like we may have a lot of holes to fill and only have 5 picks.

I'm always a fan of an OL pickup but I just don't see any first round talents falling to us at 24. The first round graded OL seem to all be getting mocked early in the first.

Awful take. Neither of those players can be relied on to stay healthy. The sooner the Saints draft their replacements the better.
