I don't understand the logic. I mean, maybe the first 5 picks can be projected...not the order though. I just can't even see the entertainment value...and I am a big football fan and a big fantsy football fan.

I was all over them until about a week ago. Now I'm just ready for the draft.

At this point, team's aren't saying shite to anyone so everything is just out of left field.

Yes. But you're still going to have scores of people bashing who is getting drafted where because it doesn't match a bunch of guys who have websites online.

I think doing some mocks helps get a better idea of the player pool.

The fans who don't pay any attention to mocks are the ones who shout the loudest during the draft about "WHO?!?" because Saints drafted someone in 2nd/3rd round that didn't play in SEC.

I think a lot of it is the big networks are trying to keep the NFL relevant. They release a mock draft once a week and guys start talking at the water cooler the next day. It's a marketing ploy to keep the sport on your mind when it is out of season. The NFL is the best at this.

they're fun at first, but when draftniks move a guy up directly after the combine and then down again 3 weeks later after nothing has transpired, it kind of exposes it as click-bait

Yeah but people also like reading mock drafts. The most read articles on ESPN.com are all mock drafts and Matthew Berry fantasy columns.

I tire of them more as the years go by. There is a lot of good stuff but I find as it grows as a cottage industry, it increases more in just chatter, not much substance.

The mock you pick'em games are the apex of chatter. One, they're picks are usually just goofy. Two, who the frick cares about what somebody else did on a goofy arse game. Do it, play it, but don't post it.

I do enjoy trying to figure who the pick could be narrowed to and who it might be. I think for first half of the 1st Rd you can find fairly solid consensus. Last year I mocked both Rankins and Thomas. For me, #11 is narrowed down to 3-4 players at this point.

Seems like there is less this year than inn the pass. I don't mind. Gives me something during the off season.

Mocks are best when they familiarize you with players that you know very little of. Also they stir up debate of one player vs another. But trying to guess who your team will pick, you will end up banging your head against a wall on draft day.

How "logical" can a mock draft be

True dat. The study of players both those in the draft and the trade bait on draft say does merit some real value. Like anything else, it is over commercialized, but I do see merit now.

See positive outcome from a thread...miracles never cease.

I wish the NFL didn't move the draft back 3 weeks... it's just too much fluff and speculation
