Hopefully people remember when we almost ran out of QBs and Kamara was close to playing QB.

I remember Ian Book starting a MNF game that low-key damaged our playoff chances significantly

Why on ever loving earth does Dalton affect drafting a QB of the future?

Saints needed a backup QB. They weren’t gonna roll with Book or Bortles. Needs not addressed in free agency are often targeted in the draft. The Saints no longer need a backup QB. It makes it less likely, doesn’t rule it out. IMO

Ian certainly didn't help us win that game, but he played with a really bad supporting cast that night.

That all but seals it. They are not drafting a QB this year.

I don’t see this at all.

Dalton is on a 1 year deal. If you can take a QB you like, you still can and it makes Dalton and/or Book expendable in training camp.

This is a perfect backup QB signing.

Andy Dalton signing with the Saints could jeopardize their 2023 compensatory draft pick for Terron Armstead

Good. This is one of the worst drafts, for QB's, in quite some time.

Andy Dalton is the perfect QB to drive a tank.

Less likely they draft a QB early now.

There wouldn’t have been a QB worth a damn on the board when the Saints drafted

Agreed, my $$$ is on who is available and 'who they like best' at WR AND OT when we pick. Grab other one in 2d round.

Dalton is a solid backup.

Hell, he could start if we really needed it.

“Even if the APY for comp pick purposes is only the gtd. amount of $3M, it's enough to qualify Andy Dalton as a compensatory free agent.

And that currently means that by signing Dalton, the Saints cancel their projected 3rd/4th round 2023 comp pick for Terron Armstead's departure”

“Andy Dalton's contract won't match with Terron Armstead's for comp pick purposes, so if they lose another compensatory free agent the 3rd/4th rounder could come back.

But who could that CFA be? PJ Williams? Ken Crawley? Kwon Alexander? Kenny Stills? NO's running out of options.“

Clearly they just want a veteran backup. Its fine. He's better than Trevor.

This. It's not even close.

Jameis isn't even cleared to play yet ... why would anyone not want a backup that has played and won NFL games?
