Well he knows that 7 wins is likely impossible

I would be on the phone trying to trade him for whatever I could get until he’s gone

He’ll miss like 2 weeks of training camp then show up and do what he has to do

At least with AK we know he’ll stay in shape

Running backs age in dog years. It’s usually not a steady decline, they just fall off a cliff at some point. Just because Kamara was solid last year doesn’t guarantee he will be this year.

You absolutely cannot extend him, and he’s almost guaranteed to be gone after this season.

It is what it is for that position unfortunately.

He’s made a good bit of money for the position to this point in his career. Let him finish off what he’s earned and put him to pasture. Get new guys in next year.

Same with Taysom. He’s going to be 34 this year. That’s prehistoric for a ball carrier. One more year then adios.

At this rate we should cut Demario, Cam, Matheui,Carr and anyone close to 30. I get it rbs and players age. But you can’t assume EVERY player will hit steep declines in production that they’re useless and won’t benefit the team.

I get you’re about the rebuild and betterment for the long term future. But keep in mind, hitting the reset button doesn’t necessarily mean you will be better in the future.

If my team had Derek Carr at QB, Dennis Allen at head coach and Mickey Loomis at GM, I'd be very disinterested, too.

Good. Hopefully he takes his gangbanger entourage with him. The team and NOPD are tired of covering up for him anyway. Declining player he is and not worth the headache anymore.

The VAST majority of RBs fall off a cliff right around 29/30. We should absolutely keep him around this year on his current deal. He has no leverage for more at this point.

Keep taysom too. But a 2025 35 year old taysom doing physical runs up the middle doesn’t exactly seem like a recipe for success if we can save any kind of money by getting rid of him.

Of course. I just don’t think we’re remotely close to competing for anything meaningful. Not even trying to be negative. It just seems pretty clear that our ceiling is very low and we’re pretty dang thin at some of the most important areas on a professional football team.

Austin Ekeler was one of the best RBs in 2022. He was almost out of the league after 2023.

The Saints don’t want to be left holding that bag with Kamara, and I can’t blame them.

Almost out of league is a pretty strong stance considering he just signed 2 year deal for 8 mil with Washington. Its not huge money but hes definitely not “almost” out of the league either.

I completely agree its frustrating watching this team and knowing how limited the ceiling is.

He wanted out of San Diego last year, but no one would trade and then extend him.

You can keep acting like the market is booming for aging running backs, no one is going to stop you. It’s just not realistic to expect the saints to keep Kamara past 2024 unless he’s willing to restructure and take a pay cut. Hell, his 2024 salary is already inflated, they just can’t reasonably cut him yet.

Even Derrick Henry, who was still very good last year, took a pretty big pay cut to sign a new deal.

Its how the cookie crumbles for RBs.

Yeah that makes sense for the Saints but that Ekeler example should also show you why a RB of similar age would be putting extra emphasis on getting money/years.

I don’t blame Kamara at all. I’m of the opinion that all aging players should go get the best contract they can to round out their careers. They’ve earned it.

I just don’t want the saints to be the ones giving out those contract anymore. It’s time to start getting younger and rebuild. The championship window is closed.

No one is acting like this and I never stated that the market for aged rbs is booming. All I’m stating is using Ekeler and stating he was almost out of the league is false. You’re acting like Ekeler is trash when he just signed a 2 year deal during free agency. Be a bit reasonable in your takes. But you’re also just making this huge assumption that Kamara is done and will automatically decline. You’re also assuming that the Saints don’t NEED him and our running game would not suffer without him. This team run game this season is automatically worse without him.

In general, theres just a bunch of assumptions going on that Kamara is trash, will automatically decline and we don’t need him. None of this is true.
