I've finally started to come to grips with our selection, but there's still one thing that bothers me and wanted to get the boards feel.
Agree or disagree: I will be much, much happier with the pick if it means than Jenkins is gone. I guess you could say the same about Harper, but Id rather keep Harper than Jenkins.
I'm going to be very disappointed if KV only sees the field in nickel or third down situations. He's a first round pick that needs to be starting day one.

I think the pick is more of a prediction of releasing Harper NEXT season. I doubt that we release either this season (definitely not Harper due to his dead money).
I still have hope that either/both of Jenkins and Harper can be salvaged, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are both gone next season if they don't improve this season.

I think they'll be very creative to get him the reps. Maybe a hybrid safety-slot cover guy. I won't be surprised for both Jenkins and Harper to be gone in 2014. This year as much for cap & contracts they won't be leaving.
Another thing, the old free/strong safety roles and designation is quickly becoming history. It's evolving just to left and right safeties. They have to do it all, jam the box and cover deep.

I fully believe we drafted him to start week one. If we did, Harper needs to take a serious pay cut.

100% agreed.
If Vaccaro is not a starter with the two bozo's worst rated tantum in the NFL it was a bad pick.
Everyone should know by now that I never want to see harper or jenkins play at the SS or FS position again.

I think there's still hope for Jenkins at CB. I think FS is just too much responsibility for him. Harper...well we know what we have in Harper. I don't want either of them starting this year however.
If you don't use KV to get Harper off of the field, then you haven't fixed the most glaring hole in your coverage.

I won't be either, which is why I'm starting to like the pick more. Obviously we need the safety help. I just hope it means Jenkins is either cut or just reduced to backup.
And as far as 2014 goes, I won't be surprised if Vaccaro and IAQ are the two starters.

I agree... Vaccaro is going to be so versatile in this D, and then the attitude/arrogance he has is going bring a personality this D needs and was lacking last year. Plus I am so glad MJ and RH know they have to step up their game because they could lose their spot.

I'm all with you on that. Unfortunately Harpers pay this year makes him uncuttable. That's really why I mentioned Jenkins Bc I think his $$ situation is much more manageable. Either cut outright or just off the field

jenkins was already a flat out failure at CB, which is why he was moved to FS
at the time this board defended him and said he was really drafted to play safety
now the board is mad that he sucks at safety and is hoping he can somehow become a good CB? that's highly unlikely
there is a reason he was moved from a valuable position (CB) that we have issues at to a much less valuable position (FS)

This, let's see how these guys look in the new system and where they fit in Ryan's scheme before we show them the road.
