they went 0 and 4 during a 4 game stretch. not hard to understand

This board is is actually more irrational than the SEC rant and OT lounge. Remarkable.
This is not a board about football. This is about idol worship. Y'all have fun thinking the Saints will win the next 12 Superbowls in a row and score 6 million points over that time. You're right. This is the greatest team ever. End of story.

0-4 failure in 25% of the season is a huge hurdle to overcome but is one that has been accomplished by many teams.
Alright, well the saints are 0-4 to begin the season. Theyre not 4-4 or 7-7, they are 0-4. How many teams have overcome that hurdle?
Posted on 10/5/12 at 11:27 am to Bear Is Dead
I never stated to start a season. I noted 0-4 in any part of a season. I know the 0-4 start historical data. You cannot let historical data cloud what you actually see in a team though. This 0-4 team is a completely different one than the 0-4 Browns. How many times when you hear some arcane stat mentioned in a game situation is that contradicted in result? Remember the infamous "No team has ever won a playoff game that lost it's last 3 regular season games."? Should they have just shut it down cuz there was 0% historical data to backup such hope?
Again, I'm not predicting playoffs at this point by any means. At this early of a juncture though the possibility, though unlikely, is not out of the question. You could use the historical data that this team has won more regular season games than any other in the past 3 years.

So you think Brees is 100% responsible for the Saints 0-4 start? You don't think it has anything to do with the defense or the fact that we are on our 3rd string coach and never had our head coach for training camp? Or what about the dropped balls on offense? The way I see it is there is blame to go around everywhere.

The only thing that is clouding what I see in the team is that they are winless at the start of October. I think they beat SD this week. If they do, theyre still 1-4. They would still need to go 9-2 for the rest of the season. Maybe 8-3. Teams that cant score a damn point against KC in the last 22 min of football, dont go 9-2 to finish a season.

Everywhere includes Brees. Posters in this thread dont believe that.

Brees is partly responsible for our present record.
Happy?

Hell no Im not happy. I wish the Saints were 4-0, and I hope that they win every damn game for the rest of the season and playoffs.

if history limits what the team can accomplish then this franchise shouldn't have had a hope when Payton was hired
There are the 1992 Chargers btw
They started 0-4, finished 11-5, won their division, and advanced one round in the playoffs
Brees has admitted his mistakes. They are clearly seen. He is in not the cause or primary reason for 0-4 tho. There's plenty of legitimate issues to address before pulling him into the fray.

ugh..that old familiar, "in the fight for a wild card position" feeling just hit me.

I don't think anyone has said Brees has played great in 3 of those 4 games. Saying Brees is to blame for our 0-4 start is still ridiculous though

I don't think anyone would argue that we won't make the playoffs if we play like that. Last week we showed a resemblance to the team that finished the 2011 season in dominating fashion. That is where the hope comes from. The talent is obviously there

I think if anyone can do it, the saints can. We are eons better than 99% of 0-4 teams.

Yet you felt the need to single him out.
