1. Of the available free-agent WRs, it sure would be nice to have a route-running savant like Hunter Renfrow. I haven’t seen anything in the media about whether he’s currently talking to any teams. Renfrow as a secondary or tertiary target for the Saints’ QBs would be money.

2. For the longest time, people freaked out about Taysom’s pay. Though lofty, it’s tough to overstate his value to the team—he’s a truly dynamic difference-maker.

3. The correlation between McCoy’s injury and the offensive nosedive is clear. The lack of depth and the unfortunate injuries the Saints have dealt with on the O-line make prioritizing the trenches in the 2025 and 2026 drafts critical.

Thoughts?

everyone says get a WR - but no WR will be good here when the OL is a sieve due to injuries. the fact is until we get some guys back from injury on the Oline, there really isn't much we can do.

Agree completely.
You sure up the O-line and suddenly the offense looks much better.
That’s got to be priority #1.
D-line isn’t far behind.

Saints only have $2M in cap space. I doubt Renfrow (who has a history of concussions) would sign for the vet minimum.

Why did even this scrub offensive line look good when Taysom was in the backfield?

I see Renfrow mentioned on here pretty regularly. We haven't signed him but no one else seems to be trying either. There has to be a reason.

Same reason the niners look great up front yesr in and year out. Yes they are better overall than the saints but Shanahan can scheme run blocking better than most to hide the holes in the O-line. Kubiak was doing it knowing he had two great ones in McCoy and Fuaga. Run the ball off of them. Now that McCoy is gone, teams can stack on top of fuaga and go 1v1 everywhere else knowing they’ll win. Kinda like having 2 top tier DLineman. You can barely double one of them most of the time

Great point. Even with our knack for playing cap gymnastics, the organization might see it as a stretch or a luxury that isn’t worth the cost.

It’s also strange that no team with WR issues, like the Rams, has even kicked the tires on him.

Correct me if I’m wrong but once McCoy tore his groin, the Saints offensive production collapsed. Taysom was impacted as well. Add in additional offensive line injuries and here we are. Scheme can only take you so far.

I don’t know. I’m not saying get Adams, but if we had him and he was the guy we threw to in the endzone during the falcons game or the guy we threw the 50/50 ball or fade to in the KC game, he probably comes up with those. I love Shaheed’s talent, but he’s not a #1 WR.

that is easy - Taysom is such a dynamic threat when on the field, you have to devote resources to account for it, and if one of those screws the pooch, Taysom burns them.

when Taysom got injured, we no longer had that threat, so teams can stack the box knowing it is run or pass - and can overwhelm the injured Oline.

We do need a possession receiver who make the contested catches from a rookie. A guy is sitting out there right now who is perfect for this role but it would take some pride swallowing on both sides. Bring MT back.

What type of trade package do you think the saints would have to offer to acquire him from his current team?
