Assuming that Jared Cook signs here...OL, DE, & WR look like the biggest needs imo.

Not much to say about DE right now. Hopefully Quinn or Ziggy ends up in NO. Either of them should fill our need.

We need a legit WR that can create separation & get open. Still some options left in F.A. (maybe Dez) & our 2nd round pick could solve the issue as well. Personally, I think we go WR or OL in the 2nd round.

We know the 5 starters on the OL.
Armstead
Peat
Easton
Warford
Ramczyk

Here's where it gets tricky. We don't have a backup OT that can be relied upon, & Tom is probably the only interior backup that you can count on (he's still developing though).

Tom
Clapp
Ola
Derek Newton
Nate Wozniak

I think we need to bring in a solid backup OT, & 1 or 2 solid backup OG/OC. I guess Bushrod & LeRibeus still might be possibilities.

Im starting to think that some Oline depth is a bigger question mark. But I think we might drafy DE or WR in the draft.

A 4th on Leonard really hurts about now.

I’m not in the WR need camp at all after the Cook move.

we are way ahead of where we were last year based on having 2 rookies who were thrown in with major roles. No doubt they are going to be leaps and bounds better in terms of playbook and be able to use their natural ability more. Based on our receiving options, our need is to solidly our 4th receiving option. There is a favorable likelihood one of the options below can be very solid for us.

Option 1 - MT13
Option 1a - AK47
Option 3 - Cook
Option 4 - Ginn, Kirkwood, TQS, Meredith, or a Dez or rookie

I forgot about Simmie. Redskins fans were raving about him whatever that means.

I think we have enough talent mixed with experience to have a really strong recieving corps. If Cook isn’t Fleener, I think with incremental year one to two rookie growth and maybe some luck with Meredith, this can be the best overall corps in the past 3 or 4 seasons.

Good post. We know exactly what we're getting in Ginn. I wouldn't call him a legit #2 WR, but he's good at what he does.

Tre'Quan, Meredith, Kirkwood, & Dez/rookie are all question marks, but I wouldn't be surprised if 2 of them stepped up this year. We definitely have a ton of potential at WR.

I think we are set at WR for now. Maybe re-sign Dez for vet Minimum.
O-Line O-Line O-Line

Another corner wouldn’t hurt

The more I think about it...you & tibebecolston might be right.

Definitely need a backup slot CB (maybe PJ).

I'm not sure what the coaches want to do about the backup outside CB job though. They tendered Crawley & re-signed Hardee, but I hope they bring in another guy as well. Crawley & Hardee sucked on the outside last year.

Never know who may get cut down the road in terms of O line depth. We will likely be an attractive destination for a guy later in his career trying to be part of a winning team/make some back up money.

I think Smith taking a step forward and merediths return to form are honestly the two biggest keys in taking the passing game to the next level. Not a lot of teams were really scared of our weapons outside of MT and kamara in the second half of the season. Adding these two plus Cook into a consistent passing game with AK, Thomas, and Ginn doing his thing would let Brees do what he truly likes to do and spread it out

I actually want us to draft an OL, preferably another Center in the 2nd round

Yea, you get great value on OG/OC in the 2nd round. Those 2 positions have been de-valued in the draft.

Usually all the good OT prospects are gone by the late 2nd round. Should be plenty of OG/OC left.

Saints receiver Simmie Cobbs: NFC South cornerbacks officially on notice

You’re forgiven if you’re a devout Who Dat and don’t know who Simmie Cobbs is. He snuck on to the Saints roster in December 2018 and never played. Get to know him!

One of the best things to come out for draftniks leading up to the NFL Draft is the NFL Draft 400. It’s a series of position-centric rankings put out each spring by Matt Miller and Bleacher Report. If you’re into the NFL Draft, it’s like the next Star Wars film in the series coming out for a Star Wars nut. Looking over last year’s wide receiver edition to go back over what the Saints were hoping to get out of Tre’Quan Smith, I saw a name ahead of his in the rankings, Simmie Cobbs.

I most definitely wouldn't be against having another WR through free agency or the draft, but I think I'm okay with our WRs right now. Thomas, Ginn, a 2nd year of Trequan, and a healthy Cam Meredith would be fine for us. I would much rather us go after a DE or OL depth, maybe even another S or LB.

Yep online and a pass rusher for me. If you get the pass rush, corners look much better. Similar to how I feel about our WR’s, I think Apple makes a bit of a leap and Lattimore the same. Not sure about Robinson’s health, so need depth there for a 4th corner to play dime and backup slot and outside guys. But if we could get a Robert Quinn or Ansah, plus a C or G in 2nd round...I think we can say we have upgrade our roster. That would be quite a statement.
