The consensus is that this team is significantly underachieving. There are numerous areas we can identify as reasons, and it's clear that this team will not reach its potential under the current coaching staff.

Observing Denver's turnaround and the Steelers' success driven by Tomlin & his coaching staff, what do you anticipate this team could accomplish with a more effective coaching staff? How many more wins does this team have if Payton is still here OR the dream staff that we envision is here?

If they overhaul the staff and bring in new talent next season, do you believe the Saints would undergo a drastic transformation back to the glory days of 2017-2020 or do you think it will be more of the same for the next few seasons?

I e said multiple times, better coaching, a legit LT & LG and a pass rush, and we become the third best team in the NFC behind the Eagles and 49ers. We’d basically be the cowboys.

QB is still an issue. Linebackers have no depth. Special teams are a mess. TEs have done nothing this year. To top it all off how are we suppose to make all those improvements while being in salary cap hell.

I agree that QB is still a problem, but if you change the playcaller, and shore up the O-line…..I think he would be at least serviceable until we can get out of that contract after next year. The line is fricking horrendous, giving Ruiz a contract extension was beyond stupidity.

At best, Carr can be the 11th or 12th best QB in the NFL. At worst, he’s about 22nd best QB in the NFL. He’s a problem at the moment, but he’s not the albatross that’s weighing down this team. He’s just the QB so he gets all the praise or all the blame. We’ve had tons of drops, our offensive playbook is Tecmo Bowl level and our offensive line has gotten him concussed twice, an injured shoulder, rib and back.

Coaching and leadership are the biggest problem. Offensive line is next and lack of a pass rush is 3rd.

People keep talking about Jayden Daniels like that will fix things. It won’t. He would be broken in half and the veterans on this team wouldn’t follow a rookie QB.

I don’t think you guys are getting it. Its not just Carr’s play on the field which has been atrocious. He has a big disconnect with the players on this team. I don’t understand how that can just fix itself like its no big deal.

I agree, that’s disappointing. But that’s on Dennis Allen. There’s a reason Carr was at his best under Gruden. First, Gruden is a good offensive coach, but he’s also a big personality that gets everyone in line. Carr didn’t have WRs in Las Vegas half assing routes, having run ins with offensive lineman or WRs quitting on the season. Hell, Devonte Adams went there to play with him.

This is a leadership problem and it starts with Allen.

Carr will never be Burrow or Mahomes. But he could be Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan or somebody like that.

It’s going to get worse before better. Until someone besides Loomis calls the shots (he’s the primary arsonist) and the Saints are at least middle of the road in cap space we’ll be middlin to bottom feeders every year.

If they fire Dennis Allen- I can almost promise you another coach will draft a qb. There aren’t many coaches including Gruden that are going to put their reputation with Carr.

Carr had a lot of the same leadership issues in Vegas. There was a great article written right after he left that pointed all these things out- the main was he never took accountability.

Trust me for this team to get better its not just DA that needs to go; its also Carr.

That’s so incredibly short sighted. No QB is making this team good. Carr will still be on the team because we can’t cut or trade him. People will be clamoring for Carr like they clamor for Winston now.

They need to draft Alt or Verse and pick a QB the year after. Do what they did with Mahomes or Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts. Fix the team and don’t gamble on a magic bullet or you get what the Panthers have.

The Dline and coach are very lucky we have a elite and deep secondary.

Bottom of the league in sacks and top of the league in INT's. Yeah they good!

Its really not. I personally think this team needs to rebuild and draft a young good qb. This plug and play bullshite is part of the problem. Its ok not to be immediately competitive- its a silly concept that fans want every year. But smart organizations try to build success by drafting a good qb and making a team that lasts. This whole oh we’re ok if we fix this and that is complete crap. There some solid young guys but again teams needs an overhaul. No one wants Carr. Hes brought awful culture and leadership to the lockerroom. Sometimes you have to get rid of the cancer.

Get out of here with all of that logic! You are correct though, I don’t ever remember hearing about Carr being a bad leader/teammate until he got here. This team has been a fricking shite show for over two years now……and Carr just got here.

He’s DEFINITELY not playing well enough to justify his contract, but he’s not even close to the biggest problem on this dumpster fire of an organization.

I think we agree, I just don’t think you start at QB. QB is a complete crapshoot. Look at Winston’s credentials. First overall pick, national champion, Heisman winner, All American, etc. You dont get it right and you become the Browns just continually drafting QBs.

I’m advocating fixing the team (coaching, and offensive and defensive line) first. You can’t get rid of Carr next year. You are stuck with him for another year. Like it or not.

Please see below from an article released shortly after last season.

In Gutierrez's book, If These Walls Could Talk, Kennedy, a Raiders' team employee, said of the then-team franchise quarterback: "I like Derek. I think he is a nice guy. Don't get me wrong, but he can be childish and immature, and if somebody says something bad about him, he sulks, like a little boy who takes his ball and goes into the corner. He's a good quarterback."

“Carr had made decisions that were not in his nature. To Carr's credit, he had battled back and/or rib issues, but his decision-making was poor, and his execution was sometimes unfathomable.”

Yes its a crapshoot but that doesn’t mean you stop trying to find your qb. For every Bryce Young- theres a CJ Stroud.

But this is where we disagree part of fixing this team is finding a way to move on from Carr. Draft a young guy, say its a competition and let him take over. Theres a lot more to fix then what you’re saying but say even fixing those issues- with what money do we fix those issues? In a qb deep draft you rather draft dlineman and olineman?

Well as Sun said he is on the roster next year barring IR. And I think few Saints fans would pass on a top QB if or when they fall to us.

I definitely think we still need to draft a franchise QB. But probably every other pick needs to be an O-lineman or D-lineman (and one LB)

No. For every Mahomes there’s a Tribusky and D. Watson.
For every Josh Allen there is a Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and Josh Rosen, or Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock.
There’s Goff, Wentz and Paxton Lynch. Jamies Winston and Marcus Mariota. You
Can double down and take RG3 and Kirk Cousin’s the same year.

If you don’t fix the team first, you break the QB, tank and keep doing the same thing over and over. Like the Browns and Jets.

You don’t know what QB is going to work out or not. Nobody does. The best you can do is ensure the QB you pick has the best opportunity to succeed.

I get it its hard to draft a good qb but again- if you have the chance to draft an elite one in this years draft- you take him. You dont say lets fix everything else first, bypass the qb in the draft and say we’ll draft when we’re ready. Thats not how it works.

You would be surprised how a good qb can make a lot of those issues not seem as bad. You cant focus on fixing the whole team THEN draft a qb. Boom or bust you have to take a chance to draft one early- you can’t just be its too risky so lets build around Carr.

I feel you’re too scared to draft a qb or you want the perfect setup if you draft one- thats just not how it works.
